Please help me as a newbie (18 months)to understand why:

* The average car guard (notice their neon-yellow reflective bibs?) is more visible than the average road using cyclist?

* The majority of cyclists seen on the road wear tarmac camouflage ... Black/Charcoal/Dark Blue/Dark Red/Dark green garb?

* Green and red are worn when 7 out of every 100 male drivers can not distinguish it from colours like brown?

Is it because motorists only run down the cyclists they can actually see?

I have a bright orange shirt, ride with two lights, front and back (which are turned on as soon as I leave my property) and have reflective tape scattered over the bike and my helmet, I don't think you can be too visible. I had a broken leg from a motorcycle crash 10 years ago because the driver 'did not see me'.

I don't fancy that again!

At our night rides a seat post light and good headlight are compulsory. No light no ride. If I had to wear a reflective jacket I would explode from overheating, got to be comfortable on the bike.It freaks motorists out that venture out onto quiet gravel roads at night and suddenly 30 magic lights appear from nowhere.
