MyGT Posted January 24, 2011 Share i constantly suffer with a headache after my rides. i tried increasing the amount of water i drink during rides, even carry a peanut butter sandwich/ banana and eat while i ride. the head aches are still there. yesterday i rode in the afternoon, around 3 to see whether the headaches are because i donot eat enough before the ride, so after lunch i went for a ride. around 40km, with high intensity. still got a headache. does anyone have some solution to this, cos its getting uncomfortable after my rides. the wife isn't to impressed either, that i am in no mode to do anything after a ride but relax to ease the pain. thanks
HeartCoppi Posted January 24, 2011 Share Do you suffer from headaches after aerobic exercise other than cycling
vanniri Posted January 24, 2011 Share Possible reasons: 1) ill fitting helmet - pressure on frontal lobe (happened to me) 2) ill fitting glasses - pressure on temples (could also be a combination of helmet + glasses) 3) Hot weather, not drinking enough fluids (seem you have this one covered 4) Blood pressure problems? Do you experience any funny smell during headaches - pencil shavings, etc.? Such things could be symptom of underlying neurologic disorder. Tiny K Posted January 24, 2011 Share Sorry just have to say this: Nie vanaand nie, ek het hoofpyn. Do you stretch before you ride? What is your riding posture - leaning forward too much so straining the neck lots? Edited January 24, 2011 by SirK

Danger Dassie Posted January 24, 2011 Share Could also be a matter of not getting enough electrolytes in your system. Peanut butter saam wont help there.

X-Man Posted January 24, 2011 Share Are you comfortable on your bike? Has a proper setup been done? Perhaps you streching too far out to your handlebar, thus causing neck pain resulting in headaches??

Do you suffer from sinus? I ask because I do and since I've taken chronic medication I no longer have headaches. Cost me only R220 per month for my pills and no side effects. But you need to see a doc though.

Christopher Brunsdon Posted January 24, 2011 Share constant problem, post nasal drip. Sounds much like the hell I went through for a couple of years till my doc got me onto the correct medication. I can only give the advice that the meds worked very well but you would need to see your doc on what to prescribe. I use an asthma preventer each morning and antihistamines each morning. Suppose to use a nasl spray but its too expensive and I don't notice the difference.
