I need to change my CS300's battery but I do not want to send it away. When I was in Bloemfontein a normal watch shop did it for me (for R40) there and it worked perfectly fine! (I do IM so I swim a lot with it) No Cape Union Mart and Sportsmans wants to send it away for 3 weeks and charge me a lot of money.

It is a bloody rip off if you ask me.

I took a small star screw driver, bought a R10 battery and changed it myself with no stress with leaking in the rain or shower .

Now comes the corrupt polar people. I have a polar cs400. Late last year while training it tells me the memory is full, try to clear it and the thing freezes up and later resets. Try it again, same result, but this time I lose all my personal info and the thing shows low bat. I get a 35rand bat at a store and as the thing is made to make bat change easy, I change it myself. Thing comes on and locks on a default screen. Deside to send it in. They contact me, say that I shorted the prossesing bord while changing the batery. I tell them it made k@k before I did it. They say then it wasnt me, but because I chanped bat, warranty void. I tell then it says its a user changeble bat, they say, it says its advised to send unit in for bat. Now thex whant 850 to fix it, I told them I dont have that money, its still at them.

Their shop is in Halway House, they changed mine for a R100.00, (just check their website) and give them a ring before you go to them.

My polar is about 8 years old and on its third battery.

Small little shop in the mall in Ranburg has changed it both times first time was about 35 rand and think I paid 50 last year.

I have only had excellent service from IHF in Midrand with Polar units. Yes I do go there personally.

And their prices for battery changes are not excessive.

A bike shop in Pretoria who assured me they knew how to change the battery made a f**kup of their try. All went well untill the neoprene seal popped out. If that happens there is no way you will get it back. I took the watch to IHF/Polar in Midrand where they did everything for me. Fortunately there was nothing else wrong as the warranty had been voided.

You can have the battery changed as nay times as you want the proper way or you can be a dumb fool and do it yourself by volunary giving up any warranty claims. I did it once out of my own stupidity and will not try to do it again.

Just do not come and badmouth a good product because you fokked up your own watch by being a dumb@ass

go to the post office and buy a counter to counter bag (R50.00) and send it to IHF in Midrand. They will send it back to you via the same method. Their service is usually very good although there is currently a 6/7 working day backlog.

did my polar wrist HRM myself, they also said i must send it away, but the extremely obvious slot on the back was begging me to stick a 5c coin in and twist, so i did. No problems.
