With all the mud at the moment every day ps we also cycle through a dairy farm every day so yes lots of cow crap every day

Cow crap contains a lot of stomach acid. I am sre it can be harmfull to your bike.

I was going to wash my bike today, but ended up having a picnic with the wife and kids. Next week maybe, buts what I always say. But my neighbour washes his bike every week (and his car too).

(We wash our car whenever family arrives and thats about once in 6months).

I have two damp rides on the road on the wekend, and I can see grime on the drivetrain, so that will definitely get a clean.

I clean only the moving parts, the rest of the bike, maybe once a month. I cannot put money into replacing parts of my groupset that could have been avoided with basic maintenance.

MTB - At the very least a hose down if I'm in a hurry! (after every 20km+ ride) Or when i have the time...a good 40min cleanup of all moving parts.

It keeps everything in tip-top shape and helps you identify small problems before they become big ones!!

More to the point. Who uses what to clean?

I'm a prepsol or similar dirtbike cleaner chap (from MX and bike riding days). Nothing cleans like this stuff!

Do you chaps use specific cleaning kits for doing the drivetrain, etc??

Yes, but you're lucky that you don't have much in the line of moving parts to worry about...

To me, washing/cleaning is 95% about making sure stuff runs smoothly, shinyness is just a bonus!

Exactly :) Less maintenance.... just keep riding :D

I try to clean my cassette, chain, chainrings, FD and RD after every ride, and wash the entire bike once a week.

Also service the bike once every 2 months.
