Don't forget the shifting spanners... I find them indispensible (spelling?). Again, buy quality, and get one bigger one and a little one.

 

Why would you want to use a shifting spanner on a bike. They are not very precision.

Agreed, if you want to round off bolt heads/nuts, use a shifting spanner!

That tool kit is useless, there is no 4lb hammer in it

 

You are right, they forgot that and the little tube to give you extra leverage with your allen keys to make sure the bolts are tight.

 

Just for interest, do you use your hammer to straighten rims or to get the seat posts in and out?

Hammer is more important than the little tube for leverage, with the hammer you can straighten rims, knock in seatposts and hit the end of your spanner/allen key to tighten stuff properly, the hammer is much more versatile. The hammer can also be used for straightening the dropout

Don't forget the most important use for a hammer. You can hit and adjust your stem without having to loosen the bolts.

Agreed, if you want to round off bolt heads/nuts, use a shifting spanner!

If you're rounding off bolt heads/nuts, they are probably over tightened in the first place. Shifting is useful for the casette tool, BB tool, etc.
