Not a bad looking bike! I like the new look of the XTC carbon bikes. Got to see the new Momsen 29er at the Argus Expo. Now that is a good looking bike and at R45000 its not a bad buy. Not convinced yet about this 29er hype but would not mind that as a nice to have extra bike ;)

All I can say about the hype.....its not!

I wonder why the chainstays are different. It's not like they need to make space for travel.

The chain stays are highly asymmetrical with the driveside dipping down below the chainrings but the non-driveside taking a straighter shot from the bottom bracket to the dropout.

Soon all 29ers are bound to follow suit, one of the design limitations on 29er is chainstay clearance

I do not ride a 29er but do see the sense in it and have been very jealous under certain conditions (more than I like to admit) when competing against them

I have the Anthem X1 29er with the same wheels. I won't classify them as heavy. I think that they are quite light. The problem might be that they are not tubeless, although I converted mine with Stans tape. They might also not be the strongest, but I have no problems.

Considering that I have an XL (big ship) and FS, the total weight is 11,3kg.

I have this bike as standard (Giant anthem x1 29 full suspension), my weight is 12.5kg withour pedals/bottle cages etc...are you sure your weight is correct?

Giant (and a few other brands incl Scott)) do not state weights anymore. You'll find this on the websites:

"How much does this bike weigh? It’s a common question, and rightly so. But the truth is, there are no industry standards for claiming bike weights—and this leads to a lot of misinformation. Variances exist based on size, frame material, finish and hardware. And as bikes get lighter, these differences become more critical. At Giant, we believe the only way to truly know the weight of any particular bike is to find out for yourself at your local retailer"

With the CPA coming into effect next month, companies will have to be very carefull about how they advertise and the claims they make about their products weights etc.

There will only be one model with one spec. Maybe more to follow if Giant thinks there is a demand for lower spec.

This bike will, touch wood, be in SA in July. (depending on Customs, Shipping, the weather etc.)
