I do alot of training on the IDT and treadmill... and I would like to use it between my Roadbike and MTB as well. Are they any drawbacks I should know of for the 310 or RX800?

I have tried checking on the Garmin wewbsite, but what DOESN'T come in the box that one might want to buy? I need to put my computer on my stem as my tri-bars fill up any space. Would i be able to do this?

@AJ99 - Did you get yours yet?

I had the Suunto T6D but eventually decided that the 310XT was for me. In my opinion, although heavier and bulkier than the Suunto, I think the 310XT is a far better Triathlon watch.

@Thug - Did you buy any extras with your 310? I want to maybe buy mine today, and order the extras if i don't have them.

Garmin 310 xt is made for the job. For swimming take it off your arm and put it in your swim cap.

With the buzzer set you can swim laps in open water.

Use the quick releas jit to get it on you bike and arm for the run.

One feature i do miss from my Polar is the temprature(especialy on the swim)

No Hr monitor works in the water - H2O is a conductor.

The older Polars work in water, those not using the "Wind" technology, I use a RS400 for swimming, works a treat. New Polar RSX5 coming out see news next week, has dual technology so it combines the Wind as well as the older type. It has a very small rechargeable GPS as well as working with the small footpad, bike pods and the power meter, so Ironman will, not be a problem, and the watch battery will work for ages like the RS800

Apologies for only replying now.

The only extra I got was the quick release strap and some additional bike mounts.

While we are on this.

Can anybody tell me how to change between exercise types when doing a triathlon on my Polar S625X. I have tried holding down the bottom right button like the manual says but that only changes my HR from average, to max, to current.

Would also like to know - holding bottom right before starting, toggles between the different functions but how do you change during an event?

There is a function called "Multisport" under training that allows you by a press of the "lap" button to switch between various sports ie SwimCycle/Run.

It is customisable and you can include transitions in there as well.

The GPS receiver loses satelite reception when your arm is submerged during a swim, But then again, Ive never stopped during a swim to see how far I still need to go.. :P the thing thats important is the time. and that It will give you.

A cadence speed unit is a nice add on for the IDT and cadence. but otherwise the cool thing about it is the freedom, No stings attached.

Its not flawless but works fine, the vibrating alert is also a nice addition on the 310.
