  2. Thermal liner gloves are my preferred option too ... First Ascent, Cape Storm etc. That said, it's for Cape Town and not the cold experienced further north.
  3. Today
  4. A song that has stayed in my head my whole life since hearing it in the early 80’s. Daltry really was a star, good looks, amazing voice, great actor. https://youtu.be/ebnHKtGUtUs?si=7SrHslzs5dcsjvAi
  5. First Ascent sells a Thermal Inner for gloves. I put my regular short finger cycling mitts over these. They work a charm since you can take them off and stuff into your jersey pockets when it gets hot. Obviously they wont work in wet weather, but I love the versatility to take them off when the cold has eased. Last time I checked they were R350' ish.
  6. Archy posted some post storm route photos on IG and it appears as if many of the roads held up very well.

  8. TEMU INBIKE GLOVES Very pleased with these gloves! Ordered for my wife as well, she also likes them.
  9. It could be a fairly simple process to get the straps shortened at your local sewing/alterations shop..
  10. Bib shorts medium fit bottoms but the top part of the bib is loose and does not feel secure.
  11. hectic, that's quite a round trip.. I saw the travel advisory indicating the route you took, but couldn't see what was wrong with mitchell's pass. if only this image came out a bit quicker - not sure if N2/R60 would have made more sense in hindsight, I know meirngspoort is kaput for a while, swartberg pass open?
  12. Hectic! What a detour!! And it's not even flower season..
  13. Bicycle Power trading in Job . Friendly and efficient

  16. Just need 9 grand gbp
  17. I've got a pair of Pearl Izumi windproof gloves that I find work really well. They're nice and light so I still have loads of "feel" on the levers. When temperatures get below 10 deg I wear a thin pair of base layer gloves underneath like these First Ascent ones: https://www.firstascent.co.za/thermal-liner-glove If it warms up I can then remove the base layer gloves. I've tried thicker thermal padded gloves but find them less comfy and often overkill.
  18. I like the Pearl Izumi Escape Thermal Gloves for when it's cold but not freezing. They're good while the temps aren't in the single digits. Once it dips bellow 10 then I like riding with the Ciovita Artico gloves and have used these down to 0 degrees
  19. I live out in porterville. Will ride the section fron the halfmanshoff silos to the 7 sakke sout climb this weekend and update. The rest will be the usual pothole mess
  20. Some wattz from cwcycles seems to work for me. https://www.cyclelab.com/product/3007312-glove-lf-wattz-sherpa?utm_campaign=21653011192&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=&utm_term=&adgroupid=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21649282922&gclid=CjwKCAjwwpDQBhAuEiwAa-4Wox9d6MycPcN7STA85JMzvXYHFyzGulZ68s2B52cHH4feHdmYQuuKORoCbrsQAvD_BwE Iff my fingers and toes can be relatively warm the rest can freeze off and i will be comfortable.
  21. Picked up a couple of kit items on the side of the road at Paarl DH. If you left kit behind, give me a shout.
  22. I got my wife some Arctico 2.0's as well last week, and she got herself some Leatt long-finger gloves. No rides with them yet, due to the extreme weather, hopefully this weekend. The Arctico's will probably be better for when it is really cold, and the Leatts for when it is just a bit too chilly for short gloves. I think it helps to have some options - my Ryder gloves are too warm for most days, but I was very very glad to have them in the Bergplaas dropbox at last year's Transbaviaans.
  23. I have the Ciovita Arctico 2.0 which are nice and warm, no complaints.
  24. Does anyone have recommendations for full finger winter gloves? I went on a 7am ride and my fingers were in a lot of pain from how cold they got. Rookie error I know. Looking at the options available there seem to be a lot but not many with reviews. Any and all feedback is appreciated 🙂 Happy riding 🚴

  26. I’ve been lucky enough to have done most of the major mountain bike stage races in South Africa, but for some reason I’ve never made it to sani2c. This year the stars finally aligned and I was able to experience the grand daddy of three-day mountain bike stage races in South Africa for the first time. The Details The KAP sani2c is a three-day, 270-kilometre mountain bike stage race held annually in KwaZulu-Natal. Founded in 2005 by ‘Farmer’ Glen Haw, it starts near the foot of the Sani Pass in the southern Drakensberg and finishes on the shores of the […] View full article
