  1. A stationery car, earlier this morning... http://farm1.static.flickr.com/83/236081134_6ec2dac1d3.jpg
  2. Very well then, try this... http://www.grapesandgrainsnyc.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/old-peculiar-the-legend.jpg
  3. No, I'm pretty sure that as long as you have the right sort of chip you'll be included. Come and ride the Burger in early Dec and try it out!

  5. How the hell did you find him when he was 2 weeks away? The TdF is 3 weeks so 2 weeks' riding for a nipper is impressive!
  6. But it was the berries!
  7. I like what Cassie said. Please god, by all that is holy and unholy, let's keep the Hub free of such mindlessness. If you have an opinion to express, then take the time to formulate it. Amaze us with your insight, dazzle us with your wit, bamboozle us with your logic. Or at least let as laugh at what a numbnuts you are.
  8. Diet messing with your mind much?
  9. What can happen is that the rear derailleur can change past the largest sprocket and into the spokes, if the limit screw is not properly adjusted. All the advice re: limit screws given above was based on the assumption that you were changing to the biggest sprocket.
  10. I've edited your post to make things clearer. You weren't even changing gears on the wheel, is that correct? And you were in the middle gear on the cassette, at the wheel, correct? If both of these questions are answered with "Yes, that is correct!", then there was something very wrong. No amount of limit screw adjustment would have helped. Either the derailleur was bent, or the hanger was bent. I don't see any other way the wheel could have eaten the derailleur, as you weren't changing onto the largest sprocket on the cassette.
  11. Try Freightmore. 021 933 5490 I shipped two bikes through them recently, and they were the cheapest by far.
  12. Check out http://www.dutoitcycles.co.za/
  13. Berry, having given some thought to your real question, have contacted Francois Du Toit? Given your size, I suspect you will need to go custom-made. Dang freak! * I get the feeling he will have more time for framebuilding as he seems to be giving up on Pinarelli. * Given that I stand at 1.7m fully erect in damp socks please understand that this was typed with a friendly smile. Do not hit me!
  14. If you're that old, I really don't think you should be messing about with bikes. Your hips will be as brittle as glass. Still, big up on pulling such a young chick, you sly dog, you!
  15. @skollie First off, put an inexpensive-but-not-crappy seatpost and saddle on it otherwise it's worth not-a-lot. Then, assuming wheels spin nicely, gears change properly etc. I would guess around R3k would be a fair price. I'm no expert, so if that bike has specialist appeal for being what looks like early carbon fibre, I could be way out.
  16. You answered it yourself: there is no difference. Do most people really use credit card card as a way of buying bikes, though? If they do, then "most people" are arses. Unless you're being paid to ride a bike, you don't need anything more than a Tiagra/Deore level bike. And most people can afford that without resorting to credit, can't they? And if you can't, then buy a decent second hand bike. (Obviously there is a hyooge distinction between using the drastic plastic as a means of payment and using it as a means of finance.)
  17. EFA. Crack, it's a dig at Cyclelab, not at you. A bike is a toy. We can wrap it up in all sorts of other justifications, but really, it's a toy. Toys are nice to have, but their is no need to make an already-expensive indulgence even more expensive. The only time it makes sense to buy a bike on credit is if: a.) you could afford to pay cash and b.) the finance is being offered at 0%. Otherwise save up and pay cash.
  18. Just say no!
  19. Glad you're ok, eggs, and the bakkie too. But if you can't stop when the vehicle in front of you stops, you're too close. And being surprised by taxis pulling dumb moves...are you new to driving? Just saying, is all.
  20. No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!!!! Edman as you seem to be a an engineer or somebody with a scientific background, Zoidberg suited your hub persona. I figured if ever I met you in real life you'd be easy to recognise by your pink skin, face tentacles and claws. (I should point out that my Hub avatar is not so very like what I look like!) What a day I'm having! First mampara drops the 'fist pump champion' for a nondescript bearded avatar...and now this!
  21. Well done, young man!
  22. You could always google bicycle fitting, read what you find and then decide whether you need a fitting service at all.
  23. Negotiate with the LBS that if you buy the bike from them, they should laugh off the cost of the fitting.
  24. Some Mavic R-Sys and Bonti Racelites over in the for sale section. Go check 'em out!
  25. Here you go...
