  1. We're here to discuss stuff. Sometimes the opinions, chirps, reminiscences, yarns and repartee that emerge after the original question has been answered are more interesting than the discussion around the original question. If anybody doesn't like it - and this is not a dig at you, Mecnic - don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!
  2. If you're training for something other than fun, you shouldn't be relying on random input from Interweb wise-asses. If you are training for fun, then hell, do whatever is fun. You are the person best placed to work out what your body can handle. Remember, quality is prolly more important than quantity. If it ain't fun it ain't on!
  3. How is the training programme designed, who designs it and what sort of time commitment does the training programme require?
  4. Nice idea! A place for Hub-folk to erm, rant and rave?
  5. Balls! New page every 20 posts, regardless of page length. Otters may be cute, but beaver is so much better!
  6. I think what you are saying is true if all that you are after is prettiness. AFAIK, pre-preg carbon has to be stored at very low temperatures, then baked at high pressure and temperature to make structural components. (Even more than usual, I may be wrong.)
  7. Agreed! Topwhine made a much better thread, similar to this, but using standard ingredients available off the shelf at a supermarket. It tasted better and was much cheaper.
  8. Judging by your avatar, I'm guessing you were the guy on the celeste cooured Bianchi, wearing a Bianchi jersey and Bianchi gloves? (I don't think I've left anything out.)
  9. Pfffttt!!! Noob! (I'm getting the hang of this aren't I?)
  10. Right...obnoxious you say.... 32GI is best used in conjunction with Raymar (ry maar!) bracelets. Studies have shown that there are snide effects caused by Schroedinger's cat reacting negatively with mountain bikers. 32GI will not work for you if you do not know the correct way to mount Ivan Basso's sister tyres on rims. 32GI works really with SRAM and reasonably well with Shimano. If you use Campagnolo you do not need 32GI. 32GI should not be mixed with Chain-hell lube. If your sig includes a reference to a verse from some bronze age middle eastern folkloric superstition, 32GI can not help you. (Hell, not even a Powerbar slathered in Gu can help you.) Contraceptives should be used in every conceivable situation. Eye thangew!
  11. I don't see how the speed can display correctly, without updating the distance. Spin the wheel slowly in a darkish room - if the orange LED does not illuminate when the magnet passes the sensor then the sensor battery needs replacing. It's easy enough to do. IIRC you just need a very skinny screwdriver to disassemble the sensor housing, and take note of the way the sensor PCB fits in the housing.
  12. It was still a nifty, fun car though, and properly pedalled would have embarrassed much "faster" metal on the right road!
  13. Like I said to Mampara, that would make you CDI. B)
  14. Sorry, there is no CDI category.
  15. Paging Big H! Over here, big guy, and bring all your extra punctuation marks too, your thread has arrived!
  16. Anyone who used to ride a Raleigh.
  17. Where was the broken-into car parked? I saw some people parking out of the way, near the Harp Motorsport workshop (which backs onto the back straight), and at the time I wondered if that was not a dodgy place to park. Thor Buttox, please tell us it wasn't you, in a case of nominative determinism, displaying furry butt-crack through a pair of too-old blue cycling shorts.
  18. Richard Virenque's wife? (Google is your friend!)
  19. I carry no torch for 32GI, hell, I haven't even used the stuff. But you tried something during a race? That's not generally the best way. If you want to give something - anything - a fair test, you should train on it, get your body used to it, and then comment. Not a personal dig, just a comment on your "test procedure".
  20. Well that's pretty clear. Wheels may not be bigger than 26" unless bigger wheels are used. No indication that both wheels have to be the same size. And, assuming you have c'd and p'd, CSA have spelt "discipline" wrong.
  21. Thou shalt get thy use of Old Testament-style English right, or I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger!
  22. Lots of people are saying "Ooooohhh!!! Buy a Garmin!!". No prizes for guessing what they bought then. But tell us a bit more about what you want know Tinkerbell. Speed, ride distance, ave speed and total distance are given, but do you want to see cadence too? Do you want GPS info? Do you want to download and analyse the data? (Look at pretty graphs!) Do you want to know about your heart rate while you ride? How important is device memory? Battery life?
  23. For a thread in Tech Q&A? Not at all. If this thread was in 'For Sale', then yes.
