  1. Yes, people need to chill 100%. Like this dude . . . sorry @Meezo, I couldn't resist. This chap looks like he is about the crack skulls and take numbers. To be fair though, they are about the only crew riding properly.
  2. A boet is a boet regardless of where or what you ride. I also thought it would be the sock choice rather than the lid selection that gave that clue to possibly being a trail rat
  3. Now these same boets will scream blerrie murder at the next taxi that crosses their path, blissfully ignorant of their hypocrisy.
  4. I agree, and I am just sad that this is the level we got to as a society. I wonder what type of world my daughter will inherit one day. She can't do what her daddy did when he grew up, and that makes me sad. I grew up being able to ride my bicycle to school. I used to hitchhike to Vic Bay for a surf in the afternoons after school and beg a lift back home again in time for dinner. I could go and play for hours in the forest with my friends and we'd explore and build tree houses and do typical outdoor shenanigans as laaities living in George. She can't have that. It got taken away from our children. And that is visible in how people "hate" each other openly in public these days.
  5. A - Take a MyCiti over Kloof nek to Camps Bay. b - nothing, if you remove your timing chip beforehand and hand it someone who can keep it for you.
  6. Not likely that any car was going to stop and help. We truly live in a sick and demented society. Our Pastor in church this morning was talking about someone who found a lost wallet full of cash and cards recently, and this person went through quite a mission to find the owner. The pastor was contacted trying to find the guy who picked up the wallet and the owner was shocked that not only was his wallet returned, but that no money was taken. He said it was truly tragic that we live in a world where people are shocked by someone displaying integrity. That resonated with me. The world today doesn't care about anyone anymore. I'm confident that even if these two chaps were assaulting the cyclist, he'd be on his own along that stretch of the N1. People are just unwilling to step outside of their comfort zones to help someone in need.
  7. Someone should tell Toto it's only a race. Oh, wait. Mikey already did . . . 😂😂
  8. why am I thinking it's more a case of Toto not wanting to play nice?
  9. Hamilton joins Ferrari alongside Charles le Clerc in 2025. It just so happens that 2025 is the year I stop being a Ferrari fan. What a coincidence. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.breaking-lewis-hamilton-to-make-shock-switch-from-mercedes-to-ferrari-for-2025.3U1mESEizCeJ096Qrhbkb6.html
  10. I've seen guys with those cylindrical speakers mounted on the bike and they blast the most hideous tunes out, purportedly to create 'gees'. To them I say, "boet, leave it at home. No one likes it".
  11. I can't argue that point. I do have to be transparent though. When I jump on the bike and more so when I rail a berm at speed, it feels like the rear wheel wants to get away from me. Almost like it's on the edge of its available grip and wants to start sliding out. On tech, it is a huge amount of fun because the bike just plays more fun, but I agree, the Stumpy Evo and the Camber have nothing in common other than the name and the colour.
  12. Empire is my default route. It also misses that slog of a hill through town where you have to miss pedestrian and vehicle traffic. I'm not really a fan of that hill.
  13. My 2 cents. I been riding my Camber 29er for a couple of years on all things janky, gnarly and jumpy. Basically, I learnt the skills on the machine I had. Some less drastic improvements helped along the way, such as a dropper post, short stem and wider bar (yes, it's flat), flat pedals and better wheels. My riding progressed rapidly from that point on. Then last November I pulled the trigger on a new Stumpy EVO with a mullet setup. And oh boy, did that make a difference. The bike is super slack (63.5 HA) and on that smaller rear wheel it really comes alive on all the trails I rode before on the camber, except it is much faster overall, and makes the camber feel wooden by comparison. Yes, the suspension is way better, but the geo and the wheel setup made a huge difference. But in saying all that, I agree with getting the skills first. That is paramount.
  14. Love it.
  15. I'm curious what weather were in for on the day. Will the wind be howling, or might it be another scorcher, or would it possibly be raining? Maybe we get the trifecta. Or maybe we're lucky and it ends up being a jewel of an early autumn day with mild temperatures and light breezes to keep things cool. I'm starting to catch the fever.
  16. I'm doing 40km rides in the mornings and last Saturday I did 56 from Camps Bay to Sun Valley and back, so I think I'll be good for the distance. My main concern at the moment is my lower back that has decided to give me the finger. I popped some anti inflammatory meds the missus gave me earlier this evening, so I'll see what the morning holds. But I'm feeling stronger overall, and that is my main takeaway from this event. I'm really using it as an excuse and motivation to get back on the bike and ride other than on weekends where I just play. And because of that, I've managed to halve my total distance covered in 2023 in just the last three weeks.
  17. That makes sense. I think I'm a victim of marketing schpieel because as I think about it, my 36 Rhythm isn't bad and I'm a big chap. It really takes the knocks I throw it's way in stride and makes my rides feel super fun. I haven't managed to bottom it out as yet. Can't say the same for the Float X though.
  18. Back on topic. That is a nice looking machine you got there. I was riding my Spez Camber up Suikerbossie on Saturday and I was wondering if the time hasn't come for me to get something more suited to that type of riding. I think my next bike will be a gravel bike. I have enough mountain bikes now.
  19. Ek hou meer van my tamaties moet klam wees. Maar as jy van gedroogde tamaties hou, hey, elke ou vir homself.
  20. 10k + for something I dream about having on my bike. Maybe one day.
  21. No need to think up reasons to convince anyone you aren't riding a pienk fiets. Ons verstaan. 😉😄 Mooi.
  22. I'm pretty sure the build project was as much fun as the final result. Well done for taking this on and doing something worthwhile. interesting geometry you got going there, but I'm sure the lessons learned in this build will be carried over to the next one. This is such a cool thing you've got going there.
  23. Which trail is this? Looks like Boschendal side? I'll have to go give it a try, it looks fun. You must go back and ride Banhoek itself on Bethlehem farm. Super fun flow trail.
  24. Volcano Helicopter Dipping Bambi All Along The Watch Tower
  25. what are you talking about? This is Cape Town. Who works on Fridays?
