Soms is my mond vinniger as my kop en ek kry myself dan in warm sous. Weereens, skies, en ek hoop jy raak daardie klippe se baas volgende jaar.
  2. this. I was browsing my bank statement last month and noticed I am paying more for my Santam premium, yet I haven't been informed of such nor have I claimed in that last maybe 3 years at least. mmmm. time to start shopping I guess.
  3. Say what now?!? We had Jonkers last weekend. I rode on my 120mm Spez. It was awesome. Definitely not easy. And I pushed probably a good 10km of the 23 I rode, but what a jol. Who are the guys calling for easier trails? Maybe the same crowd that decided Paarl was a good Enduro venue. (It's not, just saying).
  4. I haven't ridden this event, nor do I intend to, but I have a gripe with folks complaining about an event that supposedly does what it advertised to do. This race by all accounts is known for being tough and thus it appeals to a certain demographic. Enter if you like technical riding. Don't enter if you want to ride easy. Is really that simple. But to blast the organisers for not catering to your basic needs is just poor form. It's different if they advertised manicured trails and delivered tech from hell, but I don't get the idea this was the case.
  5. Is this the kind of mountain bike race you were expecting?
  6. What is this thing you speak of? I've never known makro to sell "bikes". From what I understand they only sell Bicycle Shaped Objects which are to be avoided at all costs, unless you enjoy frustration and visits to the ER.
  7. and end with 3? (or do you mean how to end with 1 by starting with 2?)
  8. Look, fun was had, but sheez I struggled hey. And the last climb up that vertical wall called Irish was the death of me on any other day. I should 100% not have started that ride. It was by far the dumbest decision I've made in a while.
  9. Welcome to the Bike Hub @jchiledred. I'm also a big boy like yourself and I ride a normal mtb. Of late, hills are a curse. And I rode with a bunch of cyclists the last two weekends with many e-bikes in the mix. Apart from dropping me like a lead balloon, they are quick up any hill at what seems to me to be min effort. Just for that reason alone I don't think it will be a waste. Using it for the morning commute will definitely make your ride less strenuous and keep you fresh while building fitness into your regime. Riding a single speed up any hill is going to cause profuse perspiring, for me at least, so there is the added benefit of not having to suffer any longer. Maybe just make sure you can charge your bike for every commute. You don't want to get caught mid-ride with no juice in the battery anymore. E-bikes are not known for being light. I can't comment on points 2 and 3 though.
  10. Yesterday was BRUTAL. I nearly gave up on the climb to Monkey 5, but Morné talked me into dropping into Arma instead. I was feeling rubbish by then and just wanted off of that mountain. Convincing myself that I can ride despite feeling off my A-game was just foolish. My last two enduros were bad for me in that both attacked my digestive system something fierce. And that saps your energy like nothing.
  11. Look, I am not going to be the one riding without a chamois between my bum and the saddle, but I have consistently been riding only on weekends the last two years, and on the odd occasion that I do manage a long ride (~60km + ), I seem to be able to keep up. My legs give up the fight way before my bum does. But for pure fitness' sake, more regular rides are definitely the answer for sure.
  12. Managed 62% of your elevation gain in 12% of your distance covered yesterday. Now I don't feel so bad anymore 😁
  13. 4 degrees and waiting for the sun to announce the start to Jonkershoek Enduro.
  14. Yep, I was wondering the same. The new One Sixty looks good for an affordable Enduro platform.
  15. Thanks. It's going to be a good day out tomorrow. Can't wait.
  16. When the weather the Cape has been having hits the north of the country were going into stage 20 load shedding. Get ready, and enjoy the time with Gale and her "amenities"...
  17. My chest is a bit unhappy at the moment too. I'm trying real hard to not let things get worse. Sunday feels so far away right now.
  18. Ja I'm honestly not keen on Monkey 5 if it's been turned to mush. Those rocks are lethal enough even when it's dry. But we ride what the day serves up.
  19. Man , I'd love to see Morne ride a bike of that size . He's a tall chap.
  20. That is no longer mine. My boet's laaitie inherited it.
  21. Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to stick to the gearing for now. I am not keen on pedaling up the trails I frequent on a ratio that low. You know me. I am not built slightly. 😆
  22. This was clearly a targeted attack on him specifically.
  23. Yeah I'm keen. Let's just get behind this mountain surfing expedition at Jonkers on Sunday and then I'm going to start messing around for sure to see what's possible.
