If you use paint remover to remove the paint and you gonna paint the bare aluminium then make sure you use a etching primer else your paint job will not last very long .
The very first Burger MTB race was held on a circuit outside the veladrome , 8 competitors was entered and I got a podium !! Seems things has changed a bit .
It really depend on what distance you doing and how tough you feel . Running in cycling shorts is not nice , tried it before . But I am not to sure how the other dudes do it . I eventualy just did the whole race in my running shorts
Andy very well said but if you been riding MTB as long as you claim to have then you will know that in the "old day" when we use to race provicials on delivery bikes around the Taal monument in Paarl , that you would not even think of shouting at a slow rider (heaven forbid) or push/touch anybody . I really think they should have a race for the people that think they can either podium or wanna do a PB on one day and a race for the people that wanna enjoy it like we use to . In the first mentioned race you can act like a hooligan and do whatever it takes to reach you goals was in the second race it will not be tollerated and you should have your number displayed clearly front and back to we can report you !! Not to CSA cause they a useless bunch of runts but to the social MTB commity of SA (still to be formed) !!!
True but there are a few things in the assembly that makes the caliper return . Not one of them can do it alone , but I find that starting at the top working down normally works for me .
I vote for not posting profiles at all . Skip the distance also . Advertise it as short , middle and long distance races . See how easy it is to solve these little problems .
Don't know these brakes (or breaks) but normally a brake return because the little rubber on the top of your reservour returns to its original shape and pull the fluid back . Start there .
Let me start of by apologizing for my previous post about the moaners . I suppose we all are looking for different things in races . It is unfortunate that we can not all be pleased all the time . Like the Crater Cruise race , I did it once and said never again as it was a dirt race for roadies . Even though I never returned to the race , much to my surpise they still fill up their entries !! I think I was maybe lucky with the Cullinan race not having difficulty with bottlenecks and slow riders even though I caught a lot of the 40km riders . But I must admit if is not my type of race anyway , not enough climbs (ridable) and way to little single track . I am sure I will still do it again anyway .
Very mild , I went with the suggested 32/18 and it was a huge mistake . My batch dropped me in the first 20km and I only managed to catch a few again towards the end .
Agree . Never seen such a bunch of old woman with wet panties in my life . And I bet you most of them most probably got a HTFU badge on his bike . From C batch I did not see any bottlenecks and passing the 10/20/40 riders wasn't a problem at all . So you got a xtra 5 km for your money , how long have you been riding MTB races ? How many races has the correct distance . Get a road bike .
So I got about 8 S2C jackets , plenty t-shirts , enough beanies to go to North-Pole , raincoats , cycling tops , arm warmers ..... maybe I should go out to a clothing shop just to check that I am still in "style" .
Don't think we will enter again this year . The fees are just going up and up every year , will stay with the 3 Towers until such time as their fees also outruns inflation .
Lightweight components ??? WTF . Tubeless compatible , all bikes are toobeless compatible . Stay away from makro bikes , they are not easy to upgrade if you want to at a later stage and are heavy . A Gaint Yukon can be picked up for cheap and then you got a good frame with disks and can take it from there .
Not really !! Maybe old (4 to 5 years) but as long as its not one of those snap,crackle , pop frames (carbon) you will be fine . Bought many cheap (R1 to 2k) MTB of here and scumtree and they are very good bikes . Unfortunately my collection was stolen out of my garage earlier in the year so cannot even sell you one .
The backup was not caused by the accident but by the traffic light that has not been working for 5 days . I been getting on the pavemunt there everyday for the last week to avoid the traffic jam .
