  1. Dear Bike shops, I have provided a simple to follow guide on the operating procedure for the common telephone: This is a telephone: Sometimes you may hear a funny ringing sound (briiing briiing) coming from this device, this sound indicates that somebody, normally a customer wanting to spend money, would like to communicate with you. By lifting the "receiver" part of the phone or pressing the "answer" key, it enables you to communicate with the person on the other end of the line. This is a receiver unit: Surprisingly, it is also possible to use this same telephone to make calls. The steps are as follows: Lift receiver (see image above) Press the buttons with the little numbers (1234567890) on to input the contact number of the person you wish to communicate with, probably a customer wanting to spend money, who you told you would call back. Pass on the info the contact had inquired about by talking into the receiver unit. Easy as that. Next week we will cover how to send and reply to emails. (just a bit of fun! not all shops need this guide)
  2. ya dude be careful where you ride, we have come across Leopards on a few accessions, more down toward Vidal though. Where about you going to be staying?

  6. Ah gumtree makes me laugh! I got some golf clubs for sale and get a call from a foreign sounding guy asking about them, wants me to meet him in Kempton Park which is a fair distance from me so tell him if he wants them he must come to me, alright he says, he will see what he can arrange. I dont think much about it as thought it a scammer anyway. get another call from the guy asking why I never called him back? explain to him he said he was going to arrange to come see them and call me back.....oh yes he says. He says he has a driver on standby who will come fetch them, whats my price? tell him R7000 like in the add...oh ok...will I take an offer? sure I say, what you have in mind...um...R6900 he says, will transfer now....tell him I will have to think about it quick and ask him to hold on while I do, put the phone on the table by my pc and play a recording of lions roaring (will see why) Tell him I will take the offer but the putter needs new batteries and I just putting new bearings in the 29.5 driver....oh thats good he says.....now I am keen to see how far I can take this Ask him what clubs he plays with now...ah he cant remember the name, its like the make of car tires (he must have seen Dunlop clubs)...ohh Firestones I say...yes yes that them he says! Ok so give him directions to "my house" ( sent him to the lion park by the cradle) told him to ask for Simba when he gets there and if he not there to ask for Pumba. waiting for his call back now
  7. I will admit I am not a Cycle Lab regular but have purchased a bike from Ben and dealt with him on a few occasions since, never had an issue and always been helpful. As for the amount being spent at the store, I have over the last year or spent a large amount at another store, I know everybody there by name and they know me by name. There is no way that after spending that amount of money at a single store that a relationship would not ave been established with somebody, who in a case like this would have stepped in or been approached for help. If you spending this amount of money and not building a good relationship with the store staff, you shopping at the wrong store. PS: this not a personal attach on the OP, I'm saying in general here.
  8. oh my hat!!! Im taking my white pant, red shirt and going to the beach
  9. I ride XT on my XX bikes and feel just fine goig to bed at night! as for candys.....I would rather zip-tie my feet to the pedals than use those things!
  10. I think you miss-read JB post, he was commenting on your post about people not earning a high salary being able to afford cycling kit, not you having a 9-5 low paying job. As for your comment about not having proof, we do infact have proof and the relevant people are now involved. Matter closed
  11. You definitely need to read the entire post... PS: thanks for sticking up for us 29ers!
  12. I tell you I might also sit on the beach and play with my mini-pump if I had a thing like that sitting behind me bouncing around on a jet-ski
  13. This guys got a red shirt, was it him?

  15. It was the licensing part that I was concerned with....but have decided far to many real problems in the world to worry about so am retracting this rant
  16. I work for a rather large software company and we sponsor one of the top TDF team. I was fortunate enough to be given popper kit from the team and meet the team. I have just spotted our teams "replica" kit for sale. I know for a fact this is not from our line of clothing and know the only place licenced replica clothing can be purchased is from our teams site. I am being an *sshole or am I justified in getting upset when I see this?
  17. I am by no way an elite rider but here are my comments: I used USN for a few marathons when first getting back into riding, as I got fitter and could judge the fuel better, I found I was very "up and down" with energy during long rides and races. Had to use gels to finish anything over 70km. Started using 32GI and felt more consistent. But found the first 25-40 mins I felt flat. Started trying different pre-ride routines and got better with having the first 32GI serving very early and low GI breakfast. I still need the "chews" end of race and started using a bottle of Cytomax at the end of long rides now, feel I need the "fast" delivered energy when Im broken
