  1. Think his name is Nick Ehlers......
  2. Just heard that one of our local cyclists was hit by a car in Cape Road (Port Elizabeth),close to the Kabega Park police station yesterday ! He was admitted to hospital with a shattered arm and the usual bumps/bruises etc. I am still trying to get a refund of my expenses from the driver that hit me crossing over Strandfontein 6 weeks ago !
  3. RIP.... when will this ever end
  4. I used it this morning and found it quite accurate
  5. Could someone please let me know where I go to find a pm that has been sent to me ! Thanks a lot
  6. A few specials on 29'er's and Rock shocks would be very nice
  7. Is there anyone in the Port Elizabeth that is selling an excellent condition trailer, preferably with the capability to transport bicycles. Kindly contact me on selwyn.gill@gmail.com
  8. Great stuff thanks,I have responded
  9. Do you possibly have the Rudy Project Exowind white matt/laser blue lenses in stock and if so,what is the price please. Kindly email me on selwyn.gill@gmail.com
  10. I was nearing the end of my early morning cycle last Thursday and going over/through a roundabout when a car came from my left and didn't stop, resulting in t-boning me. I was concussed etc and rushed to hospital. All xrays, ultrasound etc were clear but I have been feeling very battered and sore AND have had a dull headache ever since. It could have been so much worse. The repairs to my bike cost R7500 and as my helmet was split, I had to buy another one.The driver's insurance will get a claim for this plus all my medical bills. The driver visited me that evening and said he simply did not see me (impossible ! ). I have to give a huge thank you to the 2 witnesses on the scene, as well as the nursing sister that stopped to help. The ambulance and Greenacres hospital staff were all excellent. The police advise me that the driver has been charged with "reckless & negligent" driving. This is a timely reminder to everyone that we need to be extra vigilant when cycling out there, too many motorists simply don't seem to see us !
  11. Does anyone know where I can source arm warmers in the colours of the SA flag !
  12. Does anyone have the contact details of the new Raleigh distributors please !
  13. I often feel sorry for myself trying to cycle with the pain I get after 2 spinal fusions BUT this guy gives me hope and MAJOR inspiration. WOW
  14. I will be doing the MAKRO/Bestmed 90km road race in PE tomorrow morning and probably a more leisurely mtb ride on Sunday (before the rugby).
  15. You can try Sharon Holmes of Velvotex (!) in Port Elizabeth on 082 658 3214.They will do any quantity and design you want.
  16. I am looking to buy a TACX Bushido wireless indoor trainer-anyone wanting to sell one ! I am sick and tired of all the wind so need to try indoors every now and then .
  17. Is anyone familiar with a CATEYE CS-1000-Cyclo Simulator and if so,what would a secondhand one be worth !
  18. The wife and I completed the "Traverse" in the most horrid of conditions, that is ,mud, slush, driving rain and freezing cold. Many times we rode through sections where our BB was under water.I fell 3 times each day, fortunately not breaking anything other than serious bruises etc. WE believe that 155 sets of brake pads were changed by the tech team on Friday night and another 55 bikes could not be done due to no parts! It cost me R800 to get new rear brakes pads, straighten the piston, bleed them etc and a new rear rotor.I have to now take the bikes in for a strip and rebuild as everything is not working too well.Mountain biking does not come cheap. A HUGE plus/thank you to Dryland who organized everything under very difficult conditions. The accomodation and food was also brilliant as were the photographers (a "coffee table" book is to be published soon). Something like 130 teams entered the race but around 89 started stage 1 and by stage 3 probably only 65 or so. I have never done something so difficult but felt a great sense of pride at the end of Stage 3-thank goodness for my IRONLADY partner. We will be back in 2012 with hopefully much better weather. This years entrants will get first choice for the 2012 event but grab your spot thereafter as entries will be limited.
  19. The tour is being done through my club ie PE Masters,so they will arrange the payment of the sponsorship to the Heart Foundation. The "cost" of the tour is R7000 of which a portion will go to the charity
  20. I have entered the Storms river traverse which is intended to be "family orientated" ie mainly for the week end warrior type of rider ! I have never done a stage race,so this 3 day event should be great. Is anyone else doing this race? I'm also doing a road cycle from PE to CT in the middle of September for charity-heart foundation (over 6 days) - any possible sponsors out there !
  21. Besides what already has been said,I use "REHYDRATE" in my bottles.I used to really battle with cramps even though I did at least a 100km race every week (plus training of course) until I discovered a side effect of Lipitor (cholestrol medication) is cramping. My dr changed to a different medication and now I am 75 pc better.
  22. I purchased the above product from Evans Cycles in the UK.It was delivered very quickly but firstly there was no SD card as promised and secondly,it does not come with a South African map. On querying them they said it can be downloaded from their site (BrytonSports). To my dismay, this costs EUR69. I have been in contact with their support team but so far with little result. Has anyone else purchased one of these units and if so,how did you get these issues resolved!
  23. Very sad news once again-condolences to the family
  24. Tough decision, probably nookie now and ride the singetrack asap afterwards. The singletrack will always be "ready" for me but ......
