  1. BOTH are very good bikes but at least 60 pc of my weekly training group have the Merida, the rest split between the other brands. This should help with your decision.
  2. It is excellent news that they were caught but really bad that it happened in the first place. No wonder I have so many mates that are emmigrating.
  3. Three teenage mtb's were mugged by machete wielding thugs yesterday.I hear one was caught,so hopefully he spills the beans on the others. I think it is time I bought a gun !
  4. I used to cramp badly virtually every race and have tried pretty much most things. However, almost by accident I discovered that Lipitor (Cholestrol tabs) have a side effect of cramp.I changed these meds about 3 months ago to Cresto and have not crampled since. My cramp "regime" these days is Slowmag daily,Cresto (as above) and on race day USN Cramp Block every hour or so and Rehydrate in each of my bottles. Works for me.
  5. Weight 90kg Height 184cm Size bike 56cm ...Specialised Roubaix
  6. We leave on Friday morning. How about letting us all know where the traps are !
  7. Starting at 0815 in HH (corporate team) on my Specialised Roubaix. We are not going for time this year BUT rather to have fun.
  8. Great RESPECT ......
  9. I recall using a site which allows one to punch in your expected time for the ARGUS and it then gives you the expected times at the various points along the route ! Does anyone know which site it is please !
  10. I have yet to find one that is better than another but Cytomax is meant to be about the best.
  11. I watched the end of the race on the beachfront and boy oh boy, these guys fly (headwind and all). The Tour is back on track,it went off very well and everybody is happy again. The organizers must learn from all of this though ie they must put up posters etc of the route so motorists can plan their route well in advance. Good luck to the riders for the rest of the tour. Well done PE
  12. I have tried various brands over time and quite frankly have not found any to be any better than another. If there is another product out there that will meet my needs ,then I would always be prepared to try it.
  13. Besides the extremely embarrassing course of events on Sunday the "Tour" is now in PE today (wind and all). The way I see it is that the motorists are bitching about road closures etc BUT I must admit that there has been very little in the press etc about the times of road closure and where ! ALGOAFM have been saying that there are too many roads to mention so the public must go onto their site. This is absolute nonsense as not everyone has access to the internet in the first place. We have the Herald and Ironman down here with no problems at all.The reason for this is that for weeks ahead everyone gets to know the date it is on,the route, what roads will be closed and when. This has not happened with the Tour of South Africa.Hopefully the rest of the TOUR will already have learnt from these mistakes and advertise the route/road closures better and quicker. This is a fantastic opportunity for cycling and South Africa, let's get it right.
  14. Option 4 for me please.....
  15. To all race organizers and marshalls. Thank you to the dr's and nurses that helped me recover sufficiently from back surgery to at least cycle again.
  16. Thanks for all the responses-I will be looking to upgrade my wheels at the Argus Expo
  17. I would think either Basso or Andy Schlek... going to be interesting
  18. I have been cycling for a number of years and have recently thought about buying a new set of wheels ie possibly Mavic's. As a very average cyclist, would so-called "better" wheels make much of a difference !
  19. Fantastic service from Buycycle,I bought a Fizik Gobi through them (at a great price) and received it the day after ordering and paying for it. Thanks guys.
  20. Hi Chris,I am wanting a Kium Fizik Gobi saddle please, any special deal on this for me!
  21. A Fizik Gobi saddle (black) would be great at a really special price! A Polar CS500 would also be great but they "fix" their pricing so I guess you cannot beat their price !
  22. Nora Jones-quite a looker and can sing pretty well too
  23. Weather permitting ie no wind,I will go for a shortish ride.
  24. I have tried both but bib shorts come out tops- no more sliding down my backside at the back ! Make sure of the correct make and size though,if not, they can be rather tight in the "groin" area and cause major discomfort. I enjoy Giodano the best.Assos are very good but expensive.
