  1. Actually, if you can get past the initial surprise, that fairing in front makes sense (if it works at cycling speeds). We all know what proportion of rider's energy/power goes into making a hole in the air, and if this works it could make a difference to speed and rider energy conservation. Question is, is it efficient at human-powered cycling speed?
  2. Agree. Enjoyed that one a lot. Hero in the Clint Eastwood style.
  3. I really enjoy westerns (even those set in modern day), so just started watching Yellowstone (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4236770/). First episode is very good, and second one is teed up. But why on earth do the networks launch a series with 2 weekly episodes then take a 2 week break?
  4. Sorry, I'm not seeing the problem here...?
  5. On a descent like that? Not me. I just hang off the back of the saddle and let my butt clench the back wheel. That'll do the job easy.
  6. Got it on Plex, so a download.

    Who remembers?

Great era in SA racing. A little while after that he moved up to Formula Ford, and I remember sitting at Clubhouse Corner (we were members of the SCC so a great place to be). The first 7 times through Clubhouse, Scheckter would spin that FF every time. 7 times in a row! Photographers had a field day, and the grownups (and in that enclosure those were mostly all racers of some ilk) were declaring him useless and that he'd never make it in single seaters!

And he won't grow up mechanically useless like those TG idiots who shouldn't be allowed near cars.
  9. For the petrol-heads who enjoy the engineering (and who think those TG morons shouldn't be allowed near a car) I suggest that you try Fantomworks (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2951514/). Also glad to see that American Chopper is back on. Economy has bitten and times have changed for the two companies.
  10. About to start the final episode of the first season. It's a really excellent series. Glad there's another season ready to watch when this is done.

    Who remembers?

Remember watching these compete at Kyalami in the hands of Scamp Porter and Puddles Adler. Then some kid named Jody Scheckter showed up in a turbo-charged version that was so quick the front-end kept lifting off down that long main straight. Very sideways through Clubhouse corner too (maybe that's where he got the nickname from).

My dad also owned one (mustard colored). If I'm not mistaken it set the trend towards hatchback cars. That 1600cc engine was incredibly willing, and later powered the Lotus Europa.
  13. Started Babylon Berlin last night. Looks good. Finished 2 seasons of "For the love of cars" with Phil Glenister and Ant Anstead. Excellent. Glenister would have been a great win for the Top Gear team. Fantom Works also looks quite good so far.
  14. Upward Crow, with David Mitchell as Will Shakespeare. Comedy in the Blackadder style. Recommend.
  15. And although we're becoming desensitized to the term "sustainable" through overuse (isn't that ironic?), bamboo is incredibly sustainable and Eco-friendly. It grows fast, and it returns to the earth when you're done with it.
  16. I thought Bosch was starting this week, and then I got all the new episodes up to number 8 yesterday. Not sure how that works, but good.
  17. Or Eurovision.
  18. Thanks, I'll definitely check those out.
  19. Looks like it will be in a tent in the garden then! Considering that most builds overrun their original time estimates, that could easily become a R400k cost. Thanks for the feedback.
  20. +1
  21. I usually follow this thread because it's great to see craftsmanship. I'm particularly interested in your workshop setup. I've got this idea to return to CT and build a sailboat in the not too distant future, and I've been wondering where to do that. Some people build a big tent in their garden, but I think a workshop like yours is way better, especially in winter. And the size of yours looks about right for a forty foot boat. May I ask what the general availability of workshops is like in CT (thinking Paarden Island, Woodstock or any area where the rents are relatively cheap, but the place is secure). And what sort of rental is likely for a place like that?
  22. Thanks for your well-considered reply! I think I need to eat a bit more when I do eat, but I'll stick to the schedule as presented in the video above. It makes a lot of sense to do that. I'll also look at loading a meal tracker, because I have no real idea what's in my meals, even though they are LCHF approved. Funny thing about those stock cubes as a meal - I read somewhere that even Phinney or Volek (anyway, one of the high profile LCHF advocates) use them as an emergency meal, so that's how I justify it. I did a quick check of the ingredients of the Knorr cubes, and they measure up okay for the no-nos (except probably MSG). But half a cube with a scrape of butter is pretty satisfying, and it keeps me from looking in the fridge. Speaking of "looking in the fridge", there has been one big win so far. No more big sugar craving directly after meals. Before last week I couldn't resist a scoop of ice cream after dinner, or a biscuit after lunch. Now nothing.
  23. Thank you! Excellent presentation and very encouraging. I subscribed to his channel too, because : 1. There seems to be a lot of good content in there 2. I'm in the business of Content Marketing and Sales Enablement, and that guy's YouTube profile is a great case study
  24. Respect for you! But giving them your time and attention was the bigger gift. Do it again, if you can.
  25. Interesting! How do you do it?
