First song, Johnny Johnny by Prefab Sprout, has a line about Hayley Mills ('you're still in love with Hayley Mills') and the second is a song by Kula Shaker. The lead vocalist is Crispian Mills, Hayley's son. I am a FOUNT of useless information, and you're welcome.

Who knows the connection to these two songs?

I'm listening to the soundtrack to this at the moment... Another SA muso who was integral to my musical diet in the late Eighties early Nineties. The movie is also worth seeing. James was way ahead of his time.

It may have been Pete's Dragon, I think... In the early Eighties, we lived in Kempton Park and there was a cinema above what I think was then called 'Big D' and possibly became a Checkers Hyper. I used to walk there on my own on Saturday mornings and go watch movies. I remember, for example, seeing Jaws 3 (In 3D!!!) there with those crappy cardboard 3D glasses. Terrible movie, loved the gory 3D effects at the time. I would have been 9 or 10 I think. *EDIT* no cellphones, often my folks were still asleep or out, I would walk to the cinema and come back hours later, my parents not knowing where I was... Imagine a pre-teen doing that today? *EDIT TIMES TWICE*I just saw that the billdoard in the photo is for Pete's Dragon. No F'n way.

Not that I'm being of much more help but... Yes, it was the Young Ones but it wasn't from an actual episode, it was from a skit the cast did on a live Comic Relief special. Hope that helps a bit?
  11. I see what you did there...
  12. Amen to that... I definitely appreciate his music more as I grow older. I mean, this was on his final album, released a month before he passed away... Just incredible.
  13. The irony, considering the office I sit in….
  14. On the other hand, I am sorted if I listen to my mono Beatles or Dylan recordings.
  15. So… Hot tip of the day, Apple earbuds are surprisingly non-receptive to accidentally being dunked in coffee…
  16. I just LOLed out loud in the office.
  17. I'm blown away an SA band was at Bonnarroo... that's fantastic!
  18. Ermagerd.
  19. Dayum... But, lets be honest, he'd be sworn to secrecy in any case so he WOULD say that, innit?
  20. On Gumtree??? I'm gobsmacked.
  21. But thats generally what the US does with sitcoms. The Brits seem to be a lot better at ending something at the top, sometimes frustratingly so. But I'm glad, for example, no one talks about the crap 10th season of Fawlty Towers or Black Adder.. (or my personal favourite, Black Books) Nope, they were great, they had a good solid short run and then bowed out gracefully.
