  1. lol dude, the internet is so restricted here, the "I Have an Idea for a new thread", when I open it here its 90% red Xs, no way spotify will work. But the entire place is under construction, we'll soon be moved around and hopefully no speaker above me then
  2. nice I remember as a kid in primary school we would sometimes go to some place that had a series of roads that we could ride on complete with traffic lights, stop signs etc. Does anyone else remember that ? I cant remember what the place was called.
  3. 2 problems 1) I'm in retail sales, I cant have headphones on 2) I'm to poor to afford even half decent NC headphones
  4. exactly the attitude that results in animosity to cyclists
  5. If its got a yellow line then it is by definition an emergency lane. What you going to do if a car stops to change a flat there ? How do you pass a slower rider ? As long as the muppets are not taking over the entire lane I dont see a problem. Its not like there is a ton of traffic out there and its not like they are not aware of the gajillion cyclists around taking up the entire road. dont be a muppet, forget about your Strava segment, take the second or 2 to check behind you and even slow down a little if needed and then pass. Whats wrong, are you scared of wearing out your headset bearing by turning to often?
  6. my commute is 5 minutes, I often dont even have the radio on. but this k@k 947 is in my ears all bloody day
  7. I'm going to disagree with you on this. How do you pass other people riding slower than you ? you would also then need to go into the road. The yellow lane is an emergency lane that just happened to be turned into a cycle lane, I'm certainly not going to fix my puncture on the grass next to the road, but I'll also make sure I'm not taking up the entire lane if possible.
  8. Look I pulled out that one sentence to ask a question, but the rest regarding CL I'm with him. I recall complaining about them on here like 15 years back and was taken to task, but it seems nothing has changed
  9. I'm only pulling this sentence out Where should the puncture be fixed ?
  10. number 3 is why I make a point of going out on new years day before everyone wakes up
  11. Let me get this rant out whilst I still can. given the choice I long ago stopped listening to 947, however at work I have no choice, there is a central audio system for the entire dealership with a single volume control, and unfortunately I have a speaker above my desk. Is it just me or does every single presenter just use the platform to moan about stuff? Clearly I have long since not been the target market for the station.
  12. no worries, many dont realise the time degradation factor
  13. just remember services on cars are time or mileage based, so even if you're not doing the mileage, things like rubbers and fluids degrade over time. so if your car has a timing belt rather than a chain that could perish with time (although the fact that you're doing a major service at 180k km make me think your car will have a chain, but other rubber bits also degrade)
  14. Before I was even a teenager I learnt not to loan tools out. I had bought myself a foot pump for pumping up my BMX tyres from my hard earned pocket money. A neighbour/friend asked to use it one day, he returned it broken. Never again.
  15. well without knowing the author and the context of the extract, as well as knowing the general publics hatred for cyclists, it was very easy to fall in. The next problem with this extract is that I've seen it on multiple social media platforms with no context, people are then very quick to pick up on this and use it as an argument against cycling.
  16. there is something special about being out there, early morning, whilst everyone is snuggled up in bed, you get back, hot and sweaty, and everyone else is trying to drink a steaming hot cup of coffee to warm up. After a hot shower and getting into warm clothing you internal warmth carries you through to the warmer part of the day. But The past couple of weeks I have not been able to mentally push myself to get out there in the morning, I know once I'm out there I'm fine, but the mental will power to get out there has held me back. Add to the fact that due to work I have been unable to take advantage of the warmer part of the day I'm feeling pretty miserable with myself right now. Todays weather would have been great to be out there before work. ????
  17. I'm to lazy to type a full response, but he is clearly anti cyclist and hasnt given this much thought.
  18. its the 25th month of the year 2020, they have the year wrong.
  19. from https://www.statista.com/statistics/819839/volume-of-bicycles-in-the-netherlands/#:~:text=As of 2019%2C it was, sold annually in the Netherlands. As of 2019, it was estimated that there were approximately 22.9 million bicycles in the Netherlands, including some 2.4 million electric bikes. About one million bicycles are sold annually in the Netherlands.
  20. I wonder what the percentage of total bikes that is compared to here.
  21. I wonder why they decided to not follow the radius of the wheel with the branding
  22. charcoal on back would have suited that bikes paint job so well. Even a light grey would be better than in your face white.
  23. [comic sans] its the world cup dammit, it is not a race, it is THE race. [/comic sans]
  24. Tone down those logos a little and its one sexy looking bike
  25. This is where I was confused, it was mentioned mat to mat which would mean the guy at the back started after you and would have to ride faster than you to beat your time, but if its the normal start group to mat type of timing then it all makes sense.
