  2. they will most likely give you the option to transfer your entry to the next CTCT, hoping that most of the 18000 entrants will take that option.
  3. 100% With our plans to move to Cape Town we decided to get an estimated value on our place so we know what price bracket to look at in CT. Incidentally and estate agent phoned me around the time, so I mentioned what we wanted and they said they would phone on the monday and setup an appointment. 3 months later still no phone call. At the same time I clicked on a link on FB with information about around selling and buying, as usual there is no free lunch and in order to get the info you needed to provide contact details. I did this. The next day I got a call, I told the agent our intentions and we setup an appointment. We were blown away, even though she knew we just wanted an estimate for now and this is something that will only happen 6-12 months later, she came prepared. She not only had all the past sale info on our place, but also similar places in the area all presented in a bound presentation with lots of useful info. She clearly did some homework before she got there. After we took her through the house we chatted and she gave some good advise, even giving us a contact for an agent in CT. She then went back, did more homework and a day later phoned me with a realistic price range to expect.
  4. had something similar a number of year back. Early hours of the morning its raining and very windy, we hear a big crash and automatically think its someone crashing their car on the main rd. Later that morning I'm getting ready for work, go out to feed the dog and something looks off. A huge branch from the tree on the pavement has fallen on my wall. I go back inside to change out of work clothes, go to the shed to grab a saw , by the time I get out there 2 of my neighbours are standing there ready to climb in. My idea was to get the branch off the wall, the rest I could clean up in the afternoon. Between my neighbours and myself we got the branch off the wall, I told my neighbours to leave the rest I'll hire a chain saw and sort it out later. By the time I got home that afternoon the pavement had been cleaned up with very little trace of the branch left.
  5. 2020, the year, never happened, historians will show the time line as 2018,2019,2021
  6. a nice balance of moderated but self moderated. Having been part of an completely non moderated forum, it worked for a while and then went sour. I like the idea above. edit to add: I've also been part of a heavily moderated forum because they had to keep the sponsors/advertisers happy, it went south VERY quickly and we promptly all left at the same time leaving the forum a ghost town with zero new posts for months at a time.
  7. Last week I only did 2 short easy rides, I've taken some time off the bike. a) because I'm lazy b) my body was telling me to c) the cold snap. In conjunction with this the last 3 nights have been the best sleeps I've had in a long time. The result of this, HRV has climbed steadily to above normal values and resting HR has dropped steadily by 5-7bpm. The plan is to setup the IDT tonight and start riding on it in the mornings until the worst of the cold has passed, so will keep monitoring.
  8. Since we've been browsing properties online for the last couple of months, my take on pics. * tidy up - I dont want to see your clutter * I want to see at least 2 different angles in each room. certain angles can make a room look bigger than what it actually is, different angles can give me a better perspective. * By the same token, dont show me 100 pics of the same thing. and for some reason its always the bathroom. * I want to see outside through the windows, so make sure one of the angles include this. I need to get a sense of how much space there is around the house. * For some reason extension cords visible puts me off. * If there is a room, take pictures of it. * I want to see inside the garage
  9. I guess this is a good place to pose the question. In my kitchen I have regular florescent tube light on the ceiling, how easy is it to convert this to using LED tubes ?
  10. clever idea with the LED strip
  11. Reads like a very hastily put together press release.
  12. I just had insurance replace a laptop. New laptop is valued at double the old laptop but the premium is lower with the same excess. ???? edit. actually just thinking about this again, it was the same with my phone
  13. There are some that do a drone walk through the house too. pretty cool.
  14. What gets me when looking at houses is where people have converted the garage into a flat. Great, so now you have a flat, but no garage to put tools/bikes/cars in.
  15. I've got a nearly full bottle of stans on my shelf. It did not work so well with the Giant Gavias I had at the time. I'll check the size of the bottle and percentage left, thinks its the 200ml bottle. I'm on the east rand, if someone wants it make me an offer.
  16. the earth point is the human touching the fence.
  17. remember this is my interpretation of the route based on the basic map they gave on the website, so may not be 100% accurate.
  18. see if this works, I just imported it into Strava https://www.strava.com/routes/2832906603229661122
  19. Agreed, but Matt & co need to be very careful and not turn the articles into car reviews. A fine balance I know, but when the argument is that this is a cycling website and thus chit chat topics are not important one can use the same argument for the car reviews. I get that it pays the bills, just try and keep it subtle please.

I'm thinking more along the lines of what has happened behind the scenes leading up to the incident. It's normally not just one thing. But hey, maybe I'm beating down the wrong door.

even the best guy put under the wrong leader can be pushed to the point of making mistakes. I look at the normal work environment where I've seen perfectly capable people making rookie errors because management keeps pushing their buttons.
  22. from those pics it does not look like it was even necessary to do that to avoid those rocks. Very strange that someone would take the effort to do that. Its almost looks like someone wants to take something bigger than a bike through there and has prepped the trail for it.
