  1. what kind of google skills do you poses that you managed to find this ?
  2. That is super neat. Well done
  3. I did a 3:20 the last 2 years, yet they stuck be down in I this year ? Last year they put me in C My guess is that they have a random generator, they chuck the names in and it spits out random start groups. It the only thing that makes sense.
  4. This is what happened to me too. Not sure why they could not just have alerted us. They HAVE our money, but because of a few "survey" fields you are not registered to ride. Why the hell did I pay then, surely my intent is to ride. These questions were obviously added AFTER entries first opened and we had paid. Since this new crowd took over the entire admin side has been a mess. Thankfully the race itself seems to be well put together.
  5. actually they responded rather quickly. Got a whatsapp with my seeding. Its wrong. But I'll make the most of it from group I . At least I know I'm in the "race" now, Edit: Lets see, have requested a reseeding a few groups forward.
  6. I decided to send them an email stating my concern that i've not received seeding. I clicked on the link in the email with seeding that I received for the guy at work that I helped. Guess what, the email address is wrong, it has ridejoburg.com instead of .co.za
  7. Was a mess last year too, not sure if they sorted it 100% last year, but one would have hoped they would have learnt some lessons and not got it so wrong again this year. I'm still waiting for my seeding
  8. only if you know your chip and bib number
  9. around '99 or 2000 they did not use FT or RT, I think it was championship that they used. That result of mine is gone. I only have a photo or 2 as proof
  10. my first one in 1998 was digitally timed. But it might have been the first year they went digital.
  11. I managed to log into the howler site again. (struggled a bit as the password saved for the site on my phone was not right). Turns out that even though I entered in July, there was some outstanding information they still wanted from me. But I received an email in July saying I've entered, no other comms saying they dont have all the info they need to register me. Anyway, thats complete now, lets wait and see where they seed me.
  12. I havent received a seeding email, but I helped a guy at work enter and received his seeding email.
  13. comparing tyre prices is not really accurate. If you're comparing to car or motorbike then you need to compare to a high end tyre in a size that is not common. I have sitting in front of me a performance vehicle with performance tyres in a not so common size. you're looking at close to 6k a tyre. There is an economy of scale that needs to get factored into high end bike prices. Also if you compare depreciation, I'm sure you'll find the % depreciation on a bicycle much higher than that of a high end motor car. B.T.W. I'm not saying we're not being charged more than we should for cycling related things, just that you cant really compare.
  14. i wonder how difficult it would be to claim for injuries because of this
  15. depends on the chain. SRAM PC 1110, got about 5000km out the 2 I tried. Current KMC X11 is on 7000km and the chain wear tool doesnt show any signs of wanting to drop in. On my second 11 speed cassette in 20 000km, big chainring has been a little noisy lately, closer inspection shows shark teeth starting to form. But I recon i could easily get another 5-10 000km out it.
  16. your iphone can be plugged into any usb port, I'm guessing Di2 cant. If you want a charging cable and even a charger for your iphone you can get it at just about any store these days, and it costs virtually nothing for a basic one.
  17. my first thought would be that its a stolen bike, so she does not have the charger.
  18. I see squirt sent me a newsletter a few hours ago, in there they recommend
  19. Irene Country Club Should have been zone 2, landed up in Zone 3
  20. on a cold winters morning, my Lezyne will do 1 hour at @ 1000lm and then its flat. Have to charge it daily. One needs to factor in the ambient temps into the run times of battery operated devices.
  21. having done many many rides equating to many hours of night riding, but on the road, I can see where you're coming from. I'd hate to be trying to navigate a technical offroad course in the dark, at speed. I have 1000lm Lezyne light, its sometimes not enough on the road. Although I do find when there is less ambient light around the 1000lm seems a bit more adequate. Having said that, there is something magical about riding at night.
  22. I cant say I slid out with gatorskins, but the feel through the corners and sounds coming off of them never instilled confidence.
  23. pretty much what I've found when looking. most place either had just 30mm, or 26 and 30 but not 28mm. And I looked over a good few months for them.
  24. pretty darn sure we never went over constantia nek. Edit. I see you posted after this. I remember the marketing/plans, but the race never actually went over the nek. Both ou kaaps detours had the same route. Then on later de tours we did boyes only because main road was under construction. rest of the route those years was via chappies.
