I think its how I lifted the screen off the casing, I may have partly separated the electronics from the LCD. Because when it was apart, if you push on that area the discoloration shifts. In the dark, with the back light on, it made that corner hard to see, but once there was sunlight around it was not an issue.

first test this morning, 1h27m run time. Everything appeared to work as it should, and only 10% battery drop as opposed to the 50-60% drop I was getting out of the battery that I took out. So far so good.

Has anyone heard any more info on the bike jacking this morning on Rondebuilt Rd Boksburg, close to the sink hole ? We were on route, pretty close by, when some cyclists came from the opposite direction and warned us, so we decided to rather turn around and ride a different route.

is that why you put earlugs in when you ride ? Harleys are noisy from the factory, and then people go and put louder pipes on

Hahaha, not so certain. The bottom of the screen now has some discoloration, but I can live with that.

I had a few words with some guys on twitter earlier today who seemed to think cyclists on chappies feel entitled and should go and ride somewhere else, I gave up very soon as it was the usual rhetoric and I did not feel like getting agitated.

I broke it. stays on wait for gps, doesn’t seem to be picking up signal. opened it up again but can’t see anything obvious. eish!!!! edit. its working. it seems to be that the aerial for the gps runs around the casing of the garmin, these connect with little connectors to the pc board. But when I put the board back the wires from the battery prevented the board going down all the way, this means the aerial was not connecting. as soon as I rerouted the wires and fastened the board all the way down it picked up signal.

Don’t know, don’t own either of those. Although I suspect the BOA has a bigger torx

I’ll have uses for the other bits, I’m always taking things apart and having to make a plan because I never have the correct tool

Battery installed. device powers on and seems to work. just waiting for the glue to dry before I charge to full. decided to use Shoe Glue. oh and had to buy a set of tools in order to get a T5 torx driver. Will test how long the battery last this week.

I dont know about that, they seem to be rather touchy about defending their choice in this thread. But each to their own. This mornings group ride we had a lady on an e-bike making sure the rest of us on amish bikes were as strong as we said we were. The fact that she was out front touching 50 kph tells me it was definitely derestricted.

Ordered yesterday afternoon, received 5 minutes ago. will make time to attempt the install this weekend

DOH!!!! Looks like old age is catching up with me, losing my memory it seems. I looked it up this morning and I started in 2A last year too.

Just got an email stating they have stock again, placed an order. Shipping was much more than the actual battery, but still relatively cheap. hopefully I get it in time to install and test properly before CTCT

I’d better bring my big boy pants to Cape Town. They got me in 2A, if I can hold onto them it will be a fast one (for me). my time last year would put me in the top 100 of 2A, target time for this year would put me in the top 20. BLIKSEM!!

if I visit their Rosebank office, how long would it take for them to asses the battery on my edge 130 and offer a replacement ?

so do you then carry a second bottle with just water for hydration purposes ? because 2.5-3 servings in one bottle is not going to keep you hydrated enough.
