  1. eggzackery Had us worried. He gave her meds for the stomach bug, said if it did not clear after a few days we must go back so he can prescribe meds for piggy flu. Based on the recovery it was the tummy bug
  2. what concerns me is the doctors diagnosis. Youngest one picked up a bug on fathers day. Fever, vomiting and runs. We took her to the doc. His diagnosis was either bad stomach bug or Swine Flu. That worries me, surely its needs to be more specific/certain ? And why not test?
  3. well if I'm losing 5w from the 10 that I make then its a big problem.
  4. In todays episode of "Should I be concerned" Hit something in the dark this morning. Probably a large stone. It made the rear wheel hop sideway. Straight afterwards my drivetrain was making a noise and I could feel there was added resistance. Backpedalling and I could feel the chain was not moving freely. I could not stop right there, it was not a safe area, so I continued for another km or so to where it was safer and had more light. Checking what the issue was and I discover the chain has come off the lower pulley wheel. Put it back and continued as normal. My guess is that after 20 000km and numerous chains, the pulley wheels probably need changing. It may just have been a fluke thing where the wheel bounced at just the right angle combined with no tension on the chain at just the right time.
  5. A dead body, a closed road, and then joined Eden Glen club for a lekker ride until about 10km from home.
  6. Is this genuinely a case of Wahoo not repairing, or is it the same as Garmin, where the SA importers/distributers could not give AF ?
  7. with the macbook having the ability to pair an apple remote it was great, the Harmony was able to replicate the apple remote and I could control the macbook like that. Failing that if I needed to do something more intense full remote control from my phone or other macbook allowed this.
  8. a) I would need a dedicated phone for the Lounge so everyone can use it b) quickly adjusting the volume means getting into the phone first, quicker with a remote c) iPhone has no IR capabilities. I investigated the Broadlink device option. Your phone talks to the device via wifi and the device transmits either via IT, BT or wifi depending on what you need to control. But again it brings me back to points a and b above.
  9. Its the only Android device in my house of fruit. I dont care much for Android devices either, but I have come to terms with it.
  10. Just over a year back we upgraded from a 32" TV to big mofo TV. It happened to be a smart TV running Android. Up until then I was using an old macbook as my media centre. I rather enjoy having one less device to maintain. Its not prefect, but its doing what I need it to do.
  11. I hate having multiple remotes. Many years ago when OneDayOnly would only have one item for the day and at a very good price, I picked up a Logitech Harmony remote. This thing was brilliant and would control all my devices. Age, plus children, plus being dropped a few times, plus the new TV requiring a Bluetooth remote meant the Harmony was not working well any more. Since Harmony stopped making universal remotes I did lots and lots of searching. Finally bought this off amazon about a month back. Its the Sofabaton U2 and its brilliant. Easy to setup, easy to use and can control up to 15 devices. My one and only gripe being the buttons having a very hard "click" when pressed.
  12. what are they looking at ?
  13. Same mist as Frosty.
  14. You also needed pet licenses back then too. Talking about cops waiting by the school, they used to wait on the main road near the school with a decimeter and catch all the guys with their motorbikes that were to loud. I've become old, as I think they should bring that for both the motorbikes and cars in my area.
  15. I'm slowly working my way through the netflix series. unfortunately the family has zero interest in it, so I can only watch a little bit here and there when they are not around. Its rather interesting to see behind the scenes of a race you've watched. Wish there was a little more indepth look at what goes on behind the scenes, but I guess there is a level of teams wanting to keep some things secret, as well as needing to appeal to non cyclists. Wish I understood french though, then there would be less reading and more enjoying the visuals.
  16. I'll measure them on the weekend
  17. quoting myself with an update. Last tweet I just saw said around 60 minutes of oxygen left. Yoh! It does not sound like this will end well. Like someone on twitter said, There are millionaires down there that would give up everything and trade places with your poor self right now.
  18. are they still alive ? I see yesterday there was a tweet saying they would run out of oxygen today.
  19. Do you know the sizes of those springs ? I've got a box full of springs from old computer keyboards (dont ask).
  20. dont come here with facts. yesterday was mid winter dammit.
  21. The thing is, my early morning rides can drop to 0 in some places and max out at 4 deg, so some proper gloves would help.
  22. not just african countries that do this. A number of years back I visited one of the Greek islands, its a large island so instead of hiring a scooter to get around we hired a car. When I produced my greek ID instead of my passport for proof of identification the rate per day dropped drastically.
  23. no i've done the surgical gloves direct on the skin. Even in sub 5 deg weather your hands come out soaking wet.
  24. So I cant find the thread or the post, but a short while back I said I was going to try Nitrile gloves OVER my normal winter gloves. Tried that today. It does not work, with the added draw back of your hands now being wet because the moisture wicking normal gloves rely on the wind to evaporate the sweat from them, but now they're covered in nitrile and the sweat has nowhere to go.
  25. Winter solstice ride. not feeling great on the bike lately, but it’s still good to get out there.
