  1. Nice little bike and leg check cruise to boulders and back. so awesome riding in Cape Town.
  2. The one thing I wanted was fastbars, dischem shelf was empty. the flee market guys with the show cleaners and the massage devices irritates the crap out of me as I walked up and down a few times whilst waiting for my mate to finish flirting with anything in a skirt. I did find some incredibly comfortable gloves at Vye, just a bit much for me to spend right now even with their “20%” discount. But they are on my shopping list.
  3. Got up, got ready, went down stairs to my mates apartment and discovered it friggin raining. 😡
  4. Fairly consistent forecast over the last few days.
  5. Yep, we’re you on that flight too?
  6. Down here early due to special on flight ticket, was crazy cheap, did not make sense to come later. not at fish hoek, no. In muizenberg again.
  7. Hey Cape Town, is eskom load shedding your sun? clouds were very low this morning landing here. anyway, todays prediction for Sunday.
  8. busy day at the office.
  9. what is considered an OWS though ? Lake / Ocean. Because in my mind swimming in a lake and swimming in an ocean is not the same. But rather difficult for upcountry folk to practice in the ocean very often.
  10. just take a wild flyer here, maybe something to do with the currents ?
  11. agree on the swimming part. My mate was worried about the swimming the most. Whilst he had practiced, he never felt comfortable with the mass starts. Added to having an ocean to swim in rather than a dam/lake/pool, he feared the swim more than the 21km run which he had never done before.
  12. I DO feel for event organisers in this day and age of snowflakes. In the past, by starting the event, you as a competitor had accepted the risk and you jsut got on with things. Now days if circumstances are out of competitor comfort zones then all sorts of things get thrown out on social media. Damned if you do and damned if you dont.
  13. Cheers, thanks. I'll bring my lights down with me for that added visibility.
  14. If weather permits, what would be a good safe, gentle route from Muizenberg on Wednesday or Thursday? Say 40 odd km. Is it safe enough to head south and back on main rd ?
  15. yep. But it is the exception rather than the norm. Have had it on a few occasions when I've started further to the back, some have been pretty rude about it.
  16. Initial impressions are that its easy enough to use. gives you the ability to "favourite" an event as well as mark an event as entered. That way allowing you to keep track a little easier. Can filter by discipline, province and a few others. I have not checked if it has ALL events, but certainly looks pretty comprehensive.
  17. I'm not sure there is a perfect solution to this. Remove the safety car and then the group the car is "protecting" is vulnerable, add a safety car and the cyclists approaching from behind are then vulnerable passing the group. I ride alone, I dont have this dilemma
  18. even if it is, I think the explanation above of more riders abreast, shortening the distance between the rear and the front of the group, makes alot of sense. In my mind anyway.
  19. I hope not. Been without a bike since wednesday last week, really hoping to get a leg losener in on wednesday or thursday.
  20. My mate did a 6:52 for his first half IM. good going as far as I’m concerned. He has never run 21km, let alone after cycling 90km.
  21. Thanks. Downloaded after shaper recommended.
  22. is there a link ? Mate of mine is doing the half. Arrived in PE yesterday.
  23. So this popped up in one of my social media feeds justnow. Busy downloading and will check it out www.web.racespace.co.za
  24. 9 days to go, anything can happen.
