  1. let me pull it out this weekend and take some pics then we can discuss.
  2. if you're using the mist spray, the jet is less likely to be carried by the wind. BUT, be cautioned. It can still get on you. And touching any sensitive areas will BURN.
  3. Nice work there patches. If anyone is interested, I have an old stanley no10 sitting in my workshop. It belonged to the old man across the street from my parents when I grew up. Used to spend a fair bit of time hanging around his "workshop". I cant and wont be able to do it justice. Also have a plane made entirely out of wood. Not sure if he made it or it was bought. I'll get around to taking pics.
  4. just think of it as forced interval training but as mentioned, quick spray of water from your bottle or get some pepper spray. Whatever you do dont try and shoe them off or kick them, then they WILL try and attack. Most of the times they're just in it for the chase and wont actually do anything.
  5. I bet you wont last long around here
  6. when we re-did our pool a few years back the installer recommended a PVC pool cover. For keeping the pool clean, saving on chemicals and water and keeping kids out, it has been brilliant. I hardly backwash my pool anymore, only do it once a month to make sure there is no bacteria build up in the filter. We had a light green pool mid december, but that was because I forgot to change the floater. With the pool covered you cant see that the floater is done, so you kind of forget about it.
  7. I'm going to have to do some diagnostics on the one door. Its opening and closing slowly, the app is telling me the supply voltage is low. Since both motors feed off the same mains supply it might be the charger or even the battery that is a problem. Battery voltage is showing 26.6 on the app so is below the 27v that centurion said it should be at.
  8. A present from my then girlfriend, now wife, when she still worked at duty free. So it probably just over 20 years old.
  9. I knew I had some close ones, just checked racetec now. 3:00 for the 2021 Tshwane classic. The other are a couple of minutes over
  10. I could be wrong, need to see what my old unit is, but I seem to recall the TSE was the original time and temp controller.
  11. knowing you, you probably stopped just before the finish line and waited for the clock to tick just over 3:00 before crossing it.
  12. The beauty of having a smart setup is that it can be controlled from anywhere. Whilst we were away last month I had it off, the day before we were to come back I turned it on. I turned it on early to take into account possible loadshedding on the day of arrival. That way if it heated up the day before and nothing on the day, the water would atleast not be ice cold when we arrived.
  13. so doing some back of scrap paper math, assuming only a 2kw element on my geyser and taking the top 18k price tag for the geyserwise plus PV panel installation, it will break even after 18 months. If its a 3kw element and or I find it cheaper than 18k it can pay for itself in a year Thats not to shabby.
  14. before sonoff brought out their geyser specific device I installed the TH16 smart switch with the temp sensor replacing the thermostat on my geyser. The smart switch does the timing and temp management, but it activates a conductor which takes care of the heavy load to the geyser.
  15. putting mine on a geyserwise cut my electricity consumption by 1/3
  16. I just wanted to put the clarification there as someone might be looking at this thread, google geyserwise and think they have found a bargain when they see price of R2500 instead of the 15-20k being spoken about here. You also get different geyserwise controllers, range from the most simple to higher end ones.
  17. just for clarification, Geyserwise is the device that controls the geyser (i.e. timing, temps etc.), the power to the geyser will come from PV panel etc.
  18. looks gorgeous in that paint scheme.
  19. Slightly earlier ride this AM, kids start school today. lekker zone 2 cruise
  20. I changed my gate motor to a centurion smart about 3 or 4 years back, it uses 2x12v batteries, the supplier supplied it with gel batteries. As of yet I've not had an issue. Which is why the garage motors that get used less often than the gate and are newer, surprised me that they depleted.
  21. Thanks, will look into this. The house we're currently looking at has 2 geysers on the main house and 1 on the cottage. A bit of capital outlay upfront will go some way in reducing the eskom bill. (plus with the way load shedding is going to will also help to keep the moaning down)
  22. the other issue I found is that whilst training like that you get away with eating all that rubbish, then you stop training for whatever reason but the brain still tells you you need all those junk calories. Also age is the bastard friend of gravity. Having said that, with a bit of discipline, at 47 I'm in better shape than at 27. I got tired of having dad boobs and no definition in the upper body and started doing just a few minutes of upper body exercise in the morning and a couple minutes in the evening, combined with the cycling the difference is rather noticeable.
  23. if you dont mind me asking, what ball park figure does a setup like that cost ? I'm currently looking at moving house, might be worth getting this done as part of the "bits and pieces" we'd do before moving in. slap the expense onto the bond
  24. Had a chat to centurion, from what I explained it did not sound out of the norm. We had had a 2 hour LS stint earlier in the day, plus this looooooong stint last night. The motors have a safety circuit built in, if the voltage drops below 23v it wont operate the motor, this is to save the electrics and batteries. When I connected to the batteries this morning when power was back I was seeing 23v, normal operating voltage should be around 27v according to the guy I spoke to.
  25. 11:30 last night power went out. At 5am it was still out, i checked the inverter it was still showing 100%. That was powering 2 x Apple Time Capsule, fibre box thingy, alarm and TV & HT amp on standby mode. Got back from my ride at 6:30, still no power and still showing 100%. My wife started working at 8am, power only just came back around 12:30. I didnt check with her what the inverter status was, but doubt it dropped by much. What did give me issues has nothing to do with the inverter. The 2 garage door motors we installed less than 6 months ago were both flat. Despite not being used at all through the night. I'm going to have to check what kind of batteries were supplied, at this stage all i know is they are reporting 24v, so most likely 2x12v
