  1. it looks like I'll probably go the Willie Honde route, there is 1 for sale in the classifieds that I'm arranging to go and collect.
  2. The method DnD uses to remove the tyre, clean and reinstall is alot of work. But your method of topping up through the valve is what I've been doing on my 6 month topups. Unfortunately I've never successfully reseated my tyres using my floor pump. And i try my luck every time. I normally tire myself out furiously pumping before I finally give up and head off to the nearest fuel station.
  3. yeah as it is I dont have enough time on the weekends to do what I need to. Half of saturday is spent at work. I dont have garden services and I DIY everything else around the house. But, I cant afford to replace parts on the bike so I have to keep up with maintenance.
  4. That alot of work every month. Based on your mileage I could do it every second month, but still. Especially if I take into account that I need to take the wheels to the local petrol station to reseat the tyres. Eish. The joys.
  5. dont you just land up with way to much liquid in the tyres topping up every month ? And surely that is also diluting the mixture.
  6. Yes, road bike running Pirelli Cinturato. So punctures are not often at all. Tyre pressure is always 80psi or below. Disc brakes. Top ups every 6 months (which may be to far apart) but the liquid in the tyres always still looks ok. It could also be the sealant getting old in the bottle. or something like that.
  7. I feel it hasnt sealed the punctures I've noticed.
  8. nope. The hang from the pedal style mounts will allow me to lift the bike high enough to clear the car and also still squeeze myself past and get into the car.
  9. Right, so the infrequently used bikes are hanging in the shed, but the daily use road bike needs to live in the garage for ease of access. I used to use a pulley system with the bike hanging from the roof between the 2 cars, but we recently installed sectional doors and the rails have taken this space away from me. The wife vetoed my McGyver plan to hang the bike from the rails, so after much head scratching it seems that the best solution is going to be a Willie Hond or Levitate style mount next to the one car. They seem to be similarly priced, does anyone have experience with both and can advise the better of the 2. Also anyone know of any specials running anywhere on them ?
  10. So yesterday I had to do a shorter ride than what I wanted to due to some time constraints. When I hit the first incline I decided that I would gun it up there, I was feeling good so decided to change the goal of the ride into a race pace test. I flew up that incline, and a good few others on the route. Later during the day it was nice to have a look at Strava and see that I did indeed beat my PBs up those inclines, it was just in my head (and legs). Its a pity that Strava has decided that I cant even compare my own personal times on segments to myself without paying them. I see both sides of the argument though, but I guess its like all social media, it depends on how you use it.
  11. Just a short one today because of time constraints. Solo race pace test
  12. It is no more unfortunately. Burnt down about a month or so back.
  13. Lekker test of the super glued and patched tyres. setting moon in one direction and rising sun in the other. was hoping to catch a plane landing to compliment the sunrise over the runway but my timing was not on.
  14. dont know its because I'm fitter, but of the 17 that I've done, last years route has been the most jol of a ride out of all. Looking forward to this year. OP, follow the advise in the above posts. Get used to spinning like crazy because there are plenty stretches where MTB gearing will leave you wanting. Depending on how far back you've started there will be a few climbs where those around you will envy your MTB gearing. Also, prevailing winds will mean head wind out and tail wind back, this means you'll have a tail wind for the majority of the climbs.
  15. I was about to post the same thing. The only time things are hectic on a friday in construction is when they are being threatened to finish the job because they are already way way way behind schedule.
  16. I've just pulled out a nearly full bottle of Stans that I stashed in my cupboard here at work. I was going to give it away 2 years ago because it wasnt working for me. But I'm hoping it was the crappy tyres I was using back then. Unfortunately dont have the money to order some Orange right now.
  17. what sealant are you using ? I'm loosing faith in Enduro seal.
  18. I havent watched the video, but I'd think a ring normally fits more securely on your finger than a watch on your wrist, therefore its can get more accurate data.
  19. I think many people dont understand just how seamlessly the apple stuff interface with each other. you want to copy text from your phone and past into a documents on you macbook, no problem. Hit copy on the phone, hit paste on the laptop. Sometimes its actually scary
  20. you see I have 4 and half pages of apps. Even if I only use an app once a year, if its a usefull app to have it will stay on my phone.
  21. check my reply earlier, there is an official whatsapp app for that, "clicktochat" Since alot of my work is communication via whatsapp to potential clients I use this daily.
  22. but does Q bond not dry hard and brittle ? or is there one that is flexible ? Edit: I found out something new today.
  23. Thanks for this, I wanted to ask yesterday and then got distracted with this silly work thing that keeps getting in the way of my cycling thing.
  24. I was reading through all the comments and was about to reply with what Droo commented above. my 105 rear shifter did exactly this.
  25. I think you guys are misunderstanding. Its not a gaping big slice through the tyre. A nail went in there. AND I'll be putting a patch on the inside. But even if I dont patch, the hole made by the nail is not big enough for an instant flat, add some sealant to the mix and itll probably be more of an irritation than a failure.
