  1. i'm no expert, but random thought Have you tried a different cable routing to the brake ? Could the cable housing perhaps be compressing more on the one bike than the other ?
  2. number 756 subscribed. I'll probably never ride any of those trails (I'm a roadie), but its cost me nothing to support locals trying to do a good thing.
  3. someone half jokingly suggested that they took the system offline so that you cant make a booking until after the new price comes into effect. I'm really starting to think its true. Phoned them again now, they said if I'm not getting the OTP I should use the BABS system and book at a branch. BABS system keeps failing to authenticate me, so thats also not working. Their Twitter account (the one I could find) was registered in 2019, made 1 tweet and that was that.
  4. ok now that I've stopped coughing up phlegm and have had a moment to go through my stats, it would appear that I put in a proper effort this morning, beat my previous time by 2m10s and hit a new Max HR of 194, thats up 11 bpm.
  5. But CTCT is in its 44th year (45 next year), is there other criteria at play that excludes CTCT from being older that Amashova ?
  6. HRV app said to take it easy today, so I went out and smashed a PB. Oops.
  7. most people dont know how to apex a corner but if I feel like there are faster rider around me I'll keep to the outside of a bend so that they can apex the bend without me getting in the way. OT: my favourite set of bends in a race are through the Scarborough area on the way to misty cliffs. Ever since my first Argus I'm down in the drops apexing the bends. I think the slight negative gradient and normally having some wind to assist makes it feel so good.
  8. dont come here with facts to spoil the perception
  9. I personally think it IS easier on the new route.
  10. My usual quick perimeter check of the airport.
  11. Sounds like a plan
  12. Thats why I was home by 9:30, went out early to beat the heat. The tail wind to the south was nice to surf though, pulled up at my parents place with a 32 avg, and that was with me fighting myself to keep the effort down to zone 2 the entire time. Wind vs heat, I thinks it a case of half a dozen of one and 6 of the other
  13. Thanks. New Redruth is very close to my folks (which is very very close to Frosty), so when doing this route I always stop at my folks place. The problem with this route is the wind direction. Its normally a head wind back home (and predominantly up hill), so unless I HAVE to go to Alberton (like when my folks are away and I need to check on the house) I try to only do it when the wind is blowing in the opposite direction or when its a bit calmer.
  14. A zone 2 cruise past Frosty’s hood and a water break at my folks place.
  15. ok just phoned them, the system she is down. please try again later.
  16. Wife and I have been meaning to do this. With the announcement of the 50% price increase come 1 Nov we decided to get it done NOW. I managed to log on on friday with my details, went as far as needing to pay and then decided I actually want to see if I can load my kids and my wife under my profile, do one payment and make the booking. so I logged out. Now I cant log in again. It just never sends the OTP. Anyone have a similar issue or any idea how to resolve ?
  17. thanks, this is purely to keep the wife working through loadshedding at this point. Not looking at reducing eskom bills or anything else at this stage. But, let me do some research on the cost of those gel batteries so that if I need to I can make you a fair offer.
  18. I've been waiting for an official quote from the guy so that we can buy the thing, he messages me today apologising, he cant get gel batteries, he'll be quoting on AGM Deep cycle. Since we're already over budget, extending to Lithium is to much of a push at this stage. But, with this system we can budget for lithium and panels in a few years.
  19. this thread is depressing.
  20. ^^^^^ This right here always amazes me. I'm sure there are those that complain, but as a whole it seem to me that the majority of the folk rather than complain about being locked down, get out there and embrace the event. I always compare CTCT to 947, and in 947 there is one particular street in bryanston that comes out and embraces the event, for the rest it is like we're just a bother.
  21. I like this part, maybe I should change my username to The Ouzo.
  22. I cant list mine like this. I dont recall enough detail from many of them. I recall a couple of years being really hot where they stopped the back markers from finishing, these were when we detoured over Ou Kaapse Weg. There were some years where the wind buffeted off the cliffs going down from Lunduno to Camps Bay with such force that you really had to hold on or risk getting chucked off the bike Couple of years of perfect weather. And then the first wet one I've done was last year.
  23. why would you want to ride 109km ? Do the first 1 or 2km and then move on to something different. Its an achievement, something that not everyone has done. After our second one my friend and I said lets do 10 of these in a row. We did it. Then decided we wanted to be part of Club 21, because we did not set a time frame we easily missed a race here and there, then we noticed we're getting old(er), so decided to put a time frame to achieve the 21 before we're 50. We enjoy the day, come rain, wind or heat, we always have fun. It used to be a challenge just to ride the distance, now for me the challenge is to get my time down.
  24. you make it sound like this is a bad thing
  25. No prizes for guessing the wind direction today
