  1. I'm in boksburg gauteng
  2. yep, checked my old one yesterday. Quil stem. must have been one of the first models then.
  3. did those not come with quil stems ? I seem to recall mine having a quil stem I'll try and remember to check later on, my dad has it at his house
  4. I need to sell my other road bike. 2005 Scott Speedster S6 8 Speed with Triple Chain Ring Alexrims R500 Shimano Sora levers Suntour Cranks size Large What does the hub say its worth
  5. your supermarkets down in the cape (at least the ones I've frequented) are certainly not on par with what we have up in gauteng.
  6. SPAR are mostly private owned stores and the owners have a fair bit more room to do as they please vs franchised head office owned stores where everything is mandated to them. This is why you have different pricing at different stores as well as different product availability.
  7. I think what makes it look so much like a cheapy little girls bike is the shape and colour of the front fork combined with the pink. The pink on its own is not that bad.
  8. not saying this is what happened here, but how do you propose a retailer handles the following situation ? 5 items left of product xyz. At the old cost price product xyz retails at R10. New stock arrives, but at the new price xyz now needs to retail for R11. xyz supplier requires minimum of 10 items of xyz to be on the shelf at all times. But you cant have 5 of them prices at R10 at 5 at R11.
  9. This particular store manager p'd me off when they first opened many years ago. we were all excited when they opened, happy to have a store convenient for us. Went in and filled our trolley, grabbing some opening specials along the way. Get to the till, unpack and scan everything only to be told when it was time to pay that their credit card machines were not yet working. I understand that there are delays, some things are beyond their control, but why not have some signage up letting shoppers know a) before filling the trolley b) before scanning all items at the till. The manager/owner was pretty rude when I approached him about it too. On a number of occasions after that we tried to use them but found the fruit and veg on the shelves going off.
  10. [comic sans] its because they're an international brand now [/comic sans] edited to add The Wattz bib I bought a few weeks back for R499 suddenly went up to R799 yet still on special
  11. not just cyclists add "for baby" on any product and you can easily double the asking price. Same as adding "wedding" to the product name.
  12. yeah as with any business its only as good as the people. There is one particular Spar that is very convenient for both home and work, but I refuse to step foot in there as the manager/owner has no clue on how to run a quality store. As for people, even good vibey customer facing staff eventually turn sour if the people above are full of crap.
  13. I find our local checkers supply chain has a break in its cold chain somewhere. Very often we will buy something (like margarine or ice cream) where once you've opened it you can see somewhere along the line it has melted and then re-frozen.
  14. Back to the Woollies vs xyz shop and the product lasting. Not to far from us is a massive fresh produce wholesaler. They are a bit inconvenient to get to so we have only tried them twice. All the fresh fruit and veg we bought from them were not only bigger than what you get at "supermarkets", but they also lasted a heck of alot longer. And the pricing was in general on par with our usual "supermarket" stores. Based on the branding on the packaging they all came from the usual farms etc. that supply the "supermarkets".
  15. and you can bet discehm are still making a profit on it @ R35
  16. B.T.W. regarding battery replacements on car keys, if your key uses a coin battery rather just go to dischem or clicks and buy the battery. You'll likely get 2 or 4 for under R60, but a car dealership will be over R100 for one.
  17. reminds me of a lady that came in when I was at Volvo. Her car remote stopped working, she replaced with a coin battery she bought from clicks. But still had issues with the keyless entry, another dealership told her its because she did not use a Volvo battery. hahahahaha.
  18. that and I cant imagine having those propellors so low can be very safe to humans. It'll only take one Karen looking down at her phone updating her facebook to walk into one
  19. Coming beginning of next year.
  20. Having done a few hundred km of test drives in it yesterday it’s a brilliant car. very very well equipped with every mod con and more. Drives smoother than the German offerings too.
  21. To my shed yesterday. Have it a good clean, re-aligned brake pads and fitted a new bling KMC X11 chain. Was really hoping to take a good ride with it today, but picked up this stupid head cold the rest of my family have had.
  22. Market appeal is good, because on paper they offer great value. Time will tell about reliability. Their older stuff wasn’t great reliability wise. a lot of the P Series buyers are selling and going back to established brands, the p series is not proving to be what it was cracked up to be.
  23. Sedans no longer sell well on SA. People will rather take an SUV over a sedan. world wide the Hyundai Elantra was Hyundais best selling car, they did not sell in SA, Honda SA knows the previous generation civic did not sell well, that’s why they have only brought in 50 of the new one and only on 1 spec.
  24. I dont think the peloton share price can be used as an accurate measure. Firstly they are a dedicated stationary bike, most people choose to rather have a trainer they can put their bike on. Secondly they were affected a fair bit by 2 TV shows where their product had negative connotations attached to them.
  25. and riding slower is actually good for your polarised training. Most of us are still riding to fast when we are trying to do recovery rides or easy days.
