  1. As other have already said, date of manufacture does not determine if its new or not. We just launched the new Civic, as in today. But these vehicles have been in the country since end of feb, that means they were built in 2021. Would you consider them NOT new then ?
  2. wait, he rode it for only 6 hours, and in that time modded the thing by chipping it and putting different gearing on ?
  3. Wealth is indeed relative. You have mentioned an extreme example, but I just look at family around me and how they view spending a few thousand zar on something vs how I view it. We are on opposite ends of the middle class and our views are different.
  4. 100%, good point A Honda Ace 125 will get you around town with ease. You can have one for less than 30k A Titan commuting bicycle will be around 5k But you can also have an all singing all dancing Fireblade for around 500k and a all singing all dancing carbon bicycle for 250k
  5. Did not have a good night sleep in the first part of the evening last night, but slept from early hours this morning. So much so that I slept through my 5am alarm to get up and go for a ride. HRV this morning is WAY down, RHR is still in line.
  6. The trick with vehicle finance (should apply to bicycles to). The higher the amount you finance the lower the interest rate. So if you have a large deposit, its worth looking into financing the entire amount, let the first payment go through and then sticking the deposit in whilst asking the bank to recapitalize your loan.
  7. I know, I’m just lazy.
  8. Vertically Challenged had grand ideas, these fizzled at the first real hill. But I still continued. just could not find a climbing rhythm.
  9. Glad it worked. I usually just wet my hand and wipe the water onto my chest before putting the strap on. Works for me.
  10. The sound of the flat four/six from Subaru is to die for. Why I love my car, one of the finest straight 6 engines ever made.
  11. damn dude. Sorry.
  12. yeah you're supposed to wet the contact points on the strap before putting it on.
  13. This sounds very much like the contacts are not picking up your HR properly until you're a bit more sweaty. How do you wet the strap before use ?
  14. So if I understand this you've tried with 2 different HR strap units. i.e. different strap AND different pods ? I was going to suggest new batteries
  15. I know what you mean. I have a 2005 330i manual in the garage. It does less mileage per year than my bicycle, but man when I take it for a drive I'm all smiles. Although I must say, its pretty darn frugal for what it is, will embarrass alot of modern small capacity motors with its fuels efficiency.
  16. a) people are not replacing with similar, but rather downgrading (although some expect to have the same levels of luxury at a fraction of the price they paid for their current car) b) those replacing with something similar but more fuel efficient are indeed kidding themselves.
  17. It might be seasonality up to a point, but if I compare it to the new car market I'm sure the declining curves will follow each other. June and July have been exceptionally quiet months, where in June we had people looking but deferring their purchase, in July we did not even have those people looking. But the bottom end of the market has seen some high numbers reached which indicates to me that people are going for whats needed rather than whats wanted.
  18. out of the 2 the car will probably have the highest interest rate anyway.
  19. This. ^^^^ klap the highest interest rate debt first, when thats done move to the next highest.
  20. That jazz you're talking about would have been one of the older 1.4s that had dual spark plugs per cylinder. And no, you dont have to practically remove the dash, but the second set of plugs ARE difficult to get to if you dont have a lift. And most people dont know that the dsi designation on that engine means dual spark so they land up only replacing one set of plugs.
  21. I can only comment on the feedback I've gotten from others. Those with the Dusters love them and dont have any complaints. I'm not sure which others are rebranded Dacia's though.
  22. Yip, I'm with Honda. Jazz has always been a winner, my wife had an '08 and that thing was bullet proof. Great resale value on them too. Our newer vehicles have stepped up in terms of build quality, ride quality etc.
  23. my understanding, dont compare your value to others. As long as it is consistent you are ok. And when it does climb or fall you need to be able to identify why (i.e. sleep, meds, alcohol, stress etc.) I can clearly see my sleep patterns with my tracking, consistently higher when I sleep well and consistently lower when I dont. If I correlate it to RHR I can also see where stress has been a factor. Tracking HRV is about the trends rather than the value of the actual number.
  24. 100% Those with money still have it, they are the ones that will do what your mate did. There are more of them than you think.
  25. I had one bad experience with SANTAM many many years back and vowed to never use them again. I was rear ended in the car, twice in one week. Second incident happened before their assessor looked at the car after the first incident. They wanted to charge me double excess as it was 2 events. I thought I was doing the right thing and reported both incidents to them. After some fighting they eventually agreed to only 1 excess. Got the car repaired and move away from them ASAP.
