  1. Look at the company he is in. Such class. Which makes the forgotten years even harder to swallow. I agree, it was excellent seeing him actually RACING. And being excellent at it!!
  2. This will be the image of the year for me. Pure class and respect between these two. Refreshing to see the youngsters having no ego.
  3. You have to have the legs.
  4. Louis jumping 3 places to 13th, 1 min behind Kruijswijk. Madouas 2 min behind. Louis needs 5 min for a top 10. Needs to go into the break again!!! Barguil dropping to 24th, eina.
  5. I see Louis is sitting at 16th, a minute after Barguil, and a minute ahead of Jungels.
  6. Just watched the stage with the DSTv function of having 2 hrs "back-up". I cannot remember such a stunning stage for ages. The next week and a half is going to be INTENSE. The Pog will not give up.
  7. We were in the Aigle/Lac Leman area 3 weeks ago, including riding some of the stage route. Picture perfect!!! Swiss is a stunningly "hilly" place.
  8. If Wout is on GC duties today and MVDP gets into the (winning) break... and wins, he can be in yellow tonight. Stranger things have happened.... I'm betting/hoping this happens.
  9. Like we said in the old days. Look at the 3 fingers pointing back to you...
  10. Not sure what your budget is but a great bike shop in Kempton was selling rims brake Bianchi's with 11 spd Campag for really good prices. No way that you will not be able to maintain such a bike for the new >5 years.
  11. I'll never get tired of Europe, especially doing the non touristy stuff. The Bossi....no words!!!
  12. Lovely bikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some real hotties!! OR take the same amount of money and have a dream holiday in Europe. I just had 3 weeks in Provence, Italy and Switzerland for a bit less that was priceless.
  13. vdp sat up with about 500m to go. 3 weeks is a looong race, perhaps he is playing the long game for the jersey. I hope so!!!
  14. Pity MvdP is not chasing the jersey???
  15. That bike throw was perfect and made the difference!!!
  16. You don't need the dual side. Single side pretty affordable considering that ones pay more that >R1k for tyres, > R2.5k for bibs, etc, etc....
  17. NICE, your power curve will be super across short term and those long hrs. I still have to go for a 4 and 5 hr ride (Maluti???) to get those data points!!
  18. We'll see for what I am using it for. DC Rainmaker seems pretty happy, but he's in Holland, and not in the Karoo. I mostly focus on marathon and I've had very little super serious rock strikes on my normal XT's during races the past decade (Epic, CPT 3-Towers, Sani's etc, etc). But I am a cautious/conservative rider. So I would say that the spindle would be able to cope with my riding style.
  19. Close to MTB power meters... I recently bought the Garmin Rally XC pedals and installed it on the gravel bike. Great experience thus far, but have done mostly road work. Of course easy to move to the MTB, or I even the road bike (if I dare the XC pedals on a roadie)
  20. MVDP!!!!!!!!
  21. Disagree. Lance sold a few....😜
  22. Yep, next good opportunity JC. See you there!!!! Most riders seems unfazed by the open seeded chaos. I'm too afraid and OCD, and too old of course. I cannot even try to contemplate another serious fall and another comeback to full race fitness.
  23. I'm moving back to Vets group as soon as I'm strong enough. Nearly there. Much safer, smaller bunches and most are ex Pro's/80's amateurs. They have bike and bunch skills. The open groups are crazy, been like that for quite a few years now. The guys are strong and fit, but bike handling skills and peleton "rules" are non existent. If you don't ride close to the front, your chance of a fall is massive. Especially on these easy and flat races. I was lucky to miss the big fall in BL at 70km. I was in the top 30, sense it was too risky and moved to top 10. Fall happened a few mins after. Getting too old for this...
  24. I was one of them. Not at Vets level yet, but getting closer. And I wanted to ride with my club mates!!
  25. rather a s**** shower & spray. Sies man!!!!
