  1. Barberton XCM on a gravel bike might not be the best option.... but I assume you have ridden it before, full marathon?
  2. It not on special....
  3. Ditto, and I talk to Frosty once in a while... Both my coaches tells me to lose weight and do more intervals and to join the club rides. Up to now I'm trying to ignore them...
  4. You can still trust the Rooiwal World Champs!!
  5. You can use the LR44 batteries (2x) Works perfectly.
  6. Exactly. In a lekker crosswind it's called a gutter... Normally takes one hard gutter to get rid of them. Ride up front and don't get caught behind a dead/tired wheel!!
  7. As we all know, it's called bunch riding. Many wheelsuckers in every race and every bunch, but a few honest riders will contribute to the pacing of the bunch...
  8. No idea, we normally stay close to town. Note that Karoo rock pieces can be very sharp!!
  9. Hi Neville, there are plenty!!! From River Destiny you can turn East and at Norvalpont go North to Gariep, or continue and turn North a little later to use a secondary road to go to Gariep via the dam wall. Plenty option to the look-out point or via the bridge West of the wall. Then the road into the town on top of the koppie. Have a look at the Strava segments in the area. Plenty short and steep climbs and lots of drags. Enjoy, I love that area
  10. I started on a 26er Talon with an oil fork in 2008. Build like a tank!! You'll be happy!!
  11. The best post of this thread... I hope those 2 angels get burnt... as well as their so called parents...
  12. Carnavon is the 1st hint - very, very, very small place. Highly unlikely home for a cyclist with a hydration pack.
  13. True, true, but all these youngsters that arrived on the scene.... Exciting racing awaits!!!
  14. What a disaster!!! I so much feel for him. Had a pretty meh year after the Giro. Last year it was the Tokyo disappointment, and this the Worlds. Will he or his great rival WvA ever win the Worlds? Time is running out....
  15. I've used superglue with good effect on tubbies where there is a small cut in the outer surface. Just to prevent sand/grit to work its way into the tyre and cause a possible puncture. For a proper puncture I use vulcanizing glue + a road tube patch on the inside of the tyre.
  16. Oh no!!! Now Mas needs to step up. I don't want an arrogant winner.
  17. Now I have to wonder......where did MF "plant" this.......
  18. Wow, he could run a political party - any of them!!!
  19. Only watched the stage now. King Louis, jou doring!!! Well done, and so long overdue!!!!
  20. Well, she cannot retire and never being on Colnago/Campy. It's like dying and only had Casio, Spur, Koffiehuis, Toyotas and Margate all your life.
  21. Snap. We did a fairly extensive road trip, visiting less touristy places, so saw the locals in action. I was again so impressed with the place. EVERYONE works hard, EVERYONE, works to a high standard. Nobody is just standing around. Refreshing.
  22. True, their start was a dream, exceptional!! But in the spirit of continuous improvement, which is expected of any business organisation, they missed the boat. I have got no opinion on Doug, positive or negative, I tried to look at this from a business results perspective, and getting the best out of your people. Top talent come in, fails to deliver, and then delivers again elsewhere? Just seems odd. BTW, Jumbo Visa has a interesting vid on the team failure and successes in the '21 Tour. (YTube) I was actually fascinated to see how "business like" they are running their athletes/team in the drive for results. Sure they created the vid themselves, but I was quite impressed with the team management.
  23. Agree. Louis stunning result and RjvR good support role at Soudal during the Tour supports what we suspected for some time now. They only upside will be that a good few people will get employment for a short while.
  24. At just over 6 hrs per week for the past 4 weeks I think it spot on. You're under trained...
