    My GUESS ... The City of Cape Town is taking steps to distance themselves from an event organiser that is not abiding by event rules - the City has been STRICT on this point for decades. It would take a strong new approach to prove to the City that the 2026 event SHALL abide by the rules. HOW, is the question the 2026 committee needs to adress. The City regularly stops events. They work on a tick box approach. If they have doubts about the safety ... they pull the permit !! Okay, some good news - VERY EASY to limit the number of entries sold, and to check this. Thus very easy to overcome this requirement. The toilets, watering points, etc ... these are checked on the days leading up to the event. And the City WILL now check these details with a fine totthcomb .... but very easy to address these last second, this is part and parcel of the frantic frenzy leading up to getting the final event permit sign off

    In 2017 the Bloemendal "trailhead" was no more than a 1x1m Wendy hut that has since fallen to bits. Then a lone container where Nicky sat and did her admin. Quickly after than a cluster of containers arranged to create a functional trailhead with a small shop. Fast forward, and it is now a small complex .... It provides permanent employment to a number of families. It provides a base for a couple of businesses. These trailheads accross SA may be a "micro" enterprise, but it is a good solid source of income for many. Let's not forget that each rider represents another string of income for the larger cycling suppliers, from bike shops to clothing etc etc ....

    Round the Pot .... DC .... Swellendam certainly benefits from these events. CTCT .... Each family that travels to join this World Champs spends a significant chunk of change on the trip Back to MOUNTAIN BIKES ... Cape Epic .... From massages to bike maintenance to accommodation and the list just carries on and on .... hundreds of millions are being mentioned Cycling is a BIG money spinner for local economies. Those provinces that dont take care of the races in their areas are very short sighted ....

    A newbie question (not a yet-setter) If you an item in Europe, and already pay their taxes .... what is the "tax risks" when you bring it back on your flight ?

    The frustrating part .... The case rest on money given and services not rendered. ANY attempt to prosecute will be stopped in its tracks by "the money was returned" ..... The frustration, lost trip, sleepless nights .... none of these can be refunded ..... just glad @Belinda Roxburgh is one of those that managed to get her money back. Small mercies. For the sake of his next victims .... it sure would be nice if there was a legal way around deleting the old posts ....

    OUCH !! Hope she feels 100% soon. Even though I only have access to the limited YouTube feeds, I DO watch and cheer for the SA riders. Next time you are in SA and playing at Tygerberg trails, give us a heads up. First round is on me

    Step ONE - make SURE those funds CLEAR .... then make very sure it is not reversed somehow ..... Step TWO - get some LEGAL advise as to how to AMEND your previous posts .... surely your posts were correct "At the time of posting" ... and EDIT with a date added should be able to wrap it up, even spelling out a family member came to his rescue (probably better legal terms) .... It would be a pity if this episode was cleared from the internet .... @Prince Albert Cycles could possibly assist with the legally correct wording. Couple of other legal wise members that could assist as well.

    Another trails was built closer to Villiersdorp, early 2020 (jip). Apparently a stone throw from Kelkiewyn .... Would be interesting to hear if this is still open, and available.

    D'Ville cycles must have boxes full of these reflectors.

    That, and land owners changing routes days before the event. If gpx files are shared early, this cause huge issues when riders goes off trail to ride what they think is the trail .... exactly where the farmer dont want them on that day.

    Have you been able to confirm the size. fit and feel, using one of their other helmets ? If so, reach out to Specialized Tygerberg / Stellenbosch. Mike has given me some very godd service over the years.

    Exactly the reasons why the City of Cape Town has written to the Regulator, asking for clarity. PS - e-bikes are in paragraph (ii), thus exempt. The issue is paragraph (iv), though the same questions apply
