  1. Very interesting line of thought ..... Those that use websites are bound to agree with you. (I typically use websites when I dont know an area) Social media ... damn thing is splintered up into so many bits that it would be a full time job updating each platform .... and it would seem that many are now using this as their primary source of information. Radio .... I followed this event on the radio in the car. (yes, I am that old) Newspaper .... do these this exist ? (sarcasm) Okay, let's face it, the circulation numbers of newspapers are drastically down, with many closed down long ago. Then again, some people still prefer this over social media .... Ironic that the very increase in modes of communication is making effective mass communication so much more difficult. Disclaimer - every so often my job has me on sites while the fire embers are still smoldering. So for me it is a well known concept that any area affected by a fire is off limits until the all clear is given. Bit of an eye opener for me to see how many people are not aware of this most basic safety concept.
  2. Now that is just plain unfair .... Confusing them with FACTS .... on a Friday ....
  3. Bumpety bump bump .... Whats the latest in Wood Fetcher's "enterprizes" ....?
  4. REALLY ?? FIre = STAY AWAY !!! And there were MANY such calls ... It is an automatic closure until the all clear is given
  5. NEEEEEE magtig man .... dis nie BRAAI nie .....
  6. Hiehie .... no sweat.
  7. Stellenbosch Emergency Numbers - Stellenbosch Safety Initiative (SSI) Controlroom – coordinates SAPS, Law Enforcement and private security companies. 021-886-8976 From this website - Emergency Numbers – Stellenbosch CPF THIS is the number to have with you. Pity they dont post a photo of the room ....
  8. Nope ... it actually WORKS. The amount of active surveilance is mind boggling ... It is also the room where ALL emergency calls are answered. They can then immediately see what is happening, subject to the closest cameras. It is well staffed and working well. Okay, let's not speculate on the capacity of law enforcement to react immediately when a call is logged from this control room .... whole different topic .... The tragic reality .... to add a series of cameras to the stretch under discussion would open the can of worms that this crime spot has to be discussed .... political hot topic that is bound to result in discussions far removed from cyclists being pelted with rocks and attacked with knives ..... control room - CHECK cost to expand system - minimal political will - gotta be kidding ....
  9. I had a glimpse in their "Security Control Centre" (not sure what their term is for this) earlier this year. It is something seriously impressive !!! The backbone is there ! It is just the cost of a few cameras to monitor these KNOWN hot spots. It just needs somebody to get the message accross to the correct person at Stellenbosch municipality. Sad reality ... for nearly a decade this municipality has spent more energy on internal fighting than on getting the job done ....
  10. Do you even have National Braai day .... on that side of the curtain ?
  11. Best take screenshots before those are changed to Private ...
  12. Johan ek het vir jou n boodskap gestuur 👍
  13. Sal wil sien of die manne saam met Mark en jou kan hou vir die "kort" 190km ....
  14. Agree, just one more thing with which to manipulate others ..... SICK !!
  15. Aaah, okay. That might be an interesting project ...
  16. Okay, just be sure .... 1. Two sets of grips ON TOP of each other ? 2. A set of grips slipped in deep, then brakes and gears, then the outer set of grips ? I thought you described option 2. Nice for a different hand position, even nice and aero .... but this is when you get the cables passing over the inner grips. Option 1 .... two sets of grips on top of each other .... not sure if the grips can stretch as much. I do know Mark used bar tape over ESI grips for long rides.
  17. Hiehie ..... let me put my foot in it .... I put the "pack" in a pillow sleeve, then in the wash with the rest of the sports clothes. I dont want the straps tangling with everything else ... Uhmmm ... by the end it had come out of the sleeve .... no idea when. I will make a similar pillow cover type bag with velcro to keep it closed for the next wash. Subscribed .... let's hear how the rest does it.
  18. I have done this on my hardtail. It is very easy to do. However, I never felt comfortable riding this way. Bear in mind your fingers are under cables, so a bit of a lag if you need to get to your brakes quickly .... For some long rides this may be less of an issue.
  19. There was a group of Vitality runners doing Comrades training .... 3 minutes run, 6 minutes walk .... my 9.06/km was enough to beat most of them to the end .... No mud along the route, despite a few puddles on the other side of the fence. The road was actually perfect, no mud and no dust. It was special having these perfect conditions, while seeing the rainbow creeping closer. At the 20km mark it was obvious that the real rain was about to move in !!! A few minutes into the prize giving the heavens OPENED !!! Can only smile at the MC .... we are drowning on the sports field and he is as slow as any MC under the best of conditions ... 🤣. Most just left ... I was drenched to the bone by the time I got to my car. Thankfully I had a towel and a change of clothing.
  20. Rhodes Quality Half marathon, Wellington. Previously the Safari event. They have an interesting "extra", in that there is also a 21,1km Walk. With the predicted heavy rain on the day, and the rain over night many entrants did not start. 2466 runners and 73 walkers set off at 7.00. 30 seconds later it started raining .... But nothing would dampen the vibe. Just as quickly the rain stopped and we had absolutely perfect weather for the event. Each water point had a different theme. But they all had such enthusiastic GEES 👍 Few spots of rain, and then a visual spectacle .... What a memorable day to do my first half marathon 😁 53 weeks after my first 5km ....
  21. The winner of last years half-36one use two layers of tape. He swears by this to dampen vibrations. Sorry, not sure which brand.

    Bikehub Pay

Surely the only "delay" is the time it takes for BHP to let the seller know the money has been payed. The actual delay is the seller having to wait days for the system to unfold before their money is paid out ... but this has zero bearing on the buyer. If anything, so much more urgency for the seller to ship the goods .....
