  1. Lets be real .... how many people can understand the policy wording ? I rely 100% on my broker !!
  2. Let's hold thumbs .... I have reached out to a security firm to keep an eye when in the area. Helps that the owner is a cyclist .... Anybody know of or work with security firms in the area, kindly do the same.
  3. Very interesting @DieselnDust The Giant Trance E has a similar "thick plastic type ring" inside the rim. So far so good ... touch wood !
  4. He has tested a couple of new rings. Also a few with no subscription. Recharge times are also coming down. Leave the ring on the charger when you shower. Seems this technology is the next big thing with a lot of development going on now.
  5. That is one good looking bike ! ENJOY
  6. I used this on my full-sus ..... Let's just say I clearly need more practice with this stuff .... nothing wrong with the product, but not easy when you get to areas with multiple contours.
  7. The more things change .... the more they stay the same. Most lights: - 2 to 3 hours on full tilt - 7+ hours on flash (okay, the very small units much less) - so the brighter you need to be ... the larger the unit to pack the battery for those 2 to 3 hours of full shine. Flash .... only when the sun is up. Bontrager .... they certainly have some very good lights !!
  8. If you need more light ... SPEED UP ....
  9. Is KMC an option ?
  10. This is why I am wondering if this is possibly fake products. It would be a sad day if SRAM dropped their standards like this, and they surely did not break like this previously.
  11. Your friend needs an e-bike ....
  12. PROJECT: PERSISTENT SCAMMER AND FRAUDSTER - TAUN BEWSHER (PART 4)
  13. Sorry, but this is BAD advise ! Cycling insurance is VERY different to car insurance, but this is a topic for another thread. 1. The process is ONGOING. (unless I missed a post, last I saw it was just taking very long) No call has been made, and going to the ombudsman is not going to speed up anything. 2. From personal experience ... as soon as you "decline" their offer you are entering a long long road ... they have all the time in the world !! It took many many months, and I barely got a few more cents out than the "70%" they initially offered. Ombudsman comes into play when they make a call, and that call can be clearly shown to be not in line with your policy. OR, as in your case where their repairer caused more damage. This case is not there .... not yet. Last comment, they dont tell you to "go away" .... YOU broke the line of communication, and initiated legal steps .... "your lawyer can talk to our lawyer" .... DONT give them an excuse to walk away while they are still working on the claim.
  14. Having some fun on the commute ....😁
  15. GMBN had a section about counterfeit Shimano products, also chains. Box looked similar at first glance ... few subtle differences ... Actual chain certainly of poor quality. Have to wonder if there are now SRAM copies out there. Either that, or you should join Matt ...
  16. SADLY insurance companies love a "70%" offer .... They save a few pennies ... Difference is not enough to take them to court ... And if you dont accept ... it becomes one long drawn out mess, after which you might get 71% ... Think long and hard before rejecting an offer. Some seriously painful school fees I paid on this one ... Let's HOPE they pay what you were covered for. The set of wheels should not make a difference, it not cheaper, thus your original cover amount was lost in full. The rest is just details .....
  17. Age of the wheel ? I had a new bike that popped a spoke at about 500km .... then a month later one more .... And that was it, no more. Still dont know why.
  18. Trails might be open and vegetation restored before this little popcorn show subsides ....

    CWC online

Hiehie ,,, yea ... I know that feeling of being crowded when I want to window-shop .... and all alone when I am in a hurry ... The Willemse family has a very long track record in business outside of CWC. Also heard they are pursuing properties after the sale. Was more than a bit surprised to hear Jnr is in Europe working on new product lines for cycling .... let's see how this plays out. I remember when CWC was just off Voortrekker road. Same parking lot for Peter Allen and CWC ... early 90's.

Chris Snr moved on 5 years after the sale. Chris Jnr is still involved in the online shop. Currently overseas working on securing new suppliers. Apparently some big news incoming ....

    CWC online

Some things happening in the background .... seems that actively working on the next big thing (heard they are working on some new product ranges) is temporarily taking their focus/resources of what is important today .... May be best to call the store and talk to them.
  22. Agreed Very surprised and impressed with the Specialized range.
  23. Not the same crime .... few posts up ...

  25. Getting out sure is thee best !! For a quick warm up, or the odd rain-logged winter session it sure helps to have a spinning or IDT setup. And if you put your mind to it, and work on it, these devices can truly help targetted training .... not fun, but very efficient.
