  1. Conti, More info on Sundays ride at NMMU please. Regards, casspir
  2. BM, there are quite a number of options available. My rides for this month below. Do you have a Garmin Edge? If so, I could provide some tracks you could use. Regards casspir
  3. Based on generally required tyre pressures I think the 12g is for MTB and 16g for road bikes. Regards, casspir
  4. I have done a Hub search but couldn't find what I need. The LBSs tend to be quite pricey on the 16 g CO2 cartridges. I know air guns use CO2 cartridge as well as certain dive shops. Where can these cartridges be bought in bulk (say 10 or 20) at a reasonable (not LBS) price? Are they manufactured locally and if so, by whom. Can't we buy from the manufacturer? 5. Kom ry eerder in PE. Hier's lekkerder paaie en nogals baie minder bokse! casspir2008-01-19 04:46:03
  6. My left pedal/cleat squeaks. It's a irritation. I do move the shoe in the (red) pedal and then it does subside for a few pedal strokes. I have tried to lightly oil the cleats on the shoe and thus has a longer effect. I have also tried "polishing" the soles and cleats with Mr Min. This has the best effect so far. What can be done? Regards, casspir
  7. Eeeish DR, moskien you dont unnerstans. I have and use tubeless. What such tyres (and other that can be used tubeless) would you recommend? Regards, casspir
  8. What would the recommendations from the experienced be regarding tyre choices for the 2008 Sani 2 Sea? Especially regarding tubeless tyres. Regards, casspir
  9. Just to add more confusion .... consider SRAM Gripshifters. casspir
  10. Ek het nie die somme gemaak nie. Mag wel duurder wees. Maar ek dink die mix bevat al die beste komponente van beide reekse. Groete, casspir
  11. Popeye, Volg Mintsauce se raad: Beste combo is Sram X.O triggers, rear derailleur, casette. XTR cranks/bb, front derailleur, ketting. My kommentaar: kyk na XT remme. (ek het my Hayes 9 verruil vir XT en ek was nog nooit spyt nie!) SRAM is nie eintlik 'n nuutjie op die MTB mark nie. Groete, casspir
  12. Hagar, Where did you take the Edge data from? From Training Centre or from SportTracks? I have found that these programs differ in respect of total climb. I personally think Training Centre is a more realistic figure. Regards, casspir
  13. After a longish ride (3 hours +) I tend to be quite tired and in need of sleep. I try to eat a protein strong snack/meal 1 hour after completion but I am still tired. I assume being tired is normal, but is there something (other than matchsticks and all that ....) that can be done to overcome the need to sleep? Regards, casspir
  14. The Edge is just as useful on a road bike as well. Gadget-wise, the Edge definitely has the edge!
  15. Carinus, I went the Cyclosport option on myrace. Identified the club I belong to etc. Paid. But now my status show "admin hold" What does it mean and when will it confirm my license? Regards, Kinnie
  16. If this image below is your route, the distance is 162 km. Regards, casspir
  17. Two more options: Have a look at: http://www.boxwave.com/products/batteryadapter/index.htm<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I have one but it does not seem to be a charger for the Edge, rather an extended battery pack running on AA batteries. This might be the answer. Rather use 4 x AA?s per day and keep the boxwave in a top tube bag or something. I used it on an iPod but unfortunately the iPod battery packed up. It may be due to the Boxwave or just the iPod battery on itself. Not sure which one. Also look at: http://www.zartek.co.za/powerpack.htm I see it?s available from Outdoor Warehouse. regards, casspir
  18. Delgado, Please keep us posted. I would really like to hear Colnago's response. Regards, Kinnie

    Ice ID

I received mine in September and have been cycling with the wrist strap ever since. But, I concur with Holy Roller, get Sweatsafe as well. Excellent accident insurance. Used it in 2006 and it repaid all medical expenses on the tab on the day of the accident. But I must also say the wrist strap is kinda small for me as well. My yellow strap is about 27 cm long and would be more comfortable if it was a bout 30 cm long. See also: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=16250&KW=iceid Regards, Kinnie
  20. Have your spokes checked. You can do it yourself. I had a similar problem and in the end it was a loose spoke. The feeling is quite similar to what a "buckled" wheel would feel. regards, c
  21. Old water bottle, SRAM power link, clean green/dish washing liquid/Prepsol/etc etc, let it soak, wash/scrub, rinse with water, dry thoroughly, oil, reattach to bike. regards, casspir
  22. I do cycle a fair amount. I also often (about weekly) clean my bike. I have noticed slight rust on the cassette. Below the teeth. How can this be prevented? Regards, casspir

    no helmet

Linnega, I was involved in an accident in October 2006. A bakkie suddenly swerved and stopped in front of me on my way to Stellenbosch. I rear-ended the delivery van. The trauma of the impact would have been extremely bad if I rode without a helmet. The helmet "burns" are visible. The helmet was cracked and replaced. My head took 90% of the impact. I will not cycle without a helmet! Regards and wear those helmets! Kinnie
  24. Let me just clarify this: The PowerLOCK is a once off. It must be removed with a chain tool and replaced. (Something I learnt today after wanting a Powerlink and being provided with a Powerlock by the LBS). Should have RTFM in the shop! The PowerLINK is a reusable item. I have one on my MTB and I am happy with it. It makes chain maintenance so easy. I haven't got a recipe to get it off. Use a piece of wire (dry cleaning hanger type) and bend it into a flat C shape. Use it to hook a link left and right of the powerlink in order to ensure a unstressed powerlink. This also allows easy removal of the powerlink. Play with it, it will eventually open. I have been using a Connex link on my road bike but investigating using a SRAM 10 speed Powerlink in its place. The Connex link is quite large and the SRAM link the same as the chain. This is the reason for this thread. To try and determine if other hubbers are also using the SRAM Powerlink on their 10 speed road bikes. And if so, any comments on the matter. Regards, casspir
  25. Is the SRAM Powerlink Connector reusable over and over? I have a SRAM Powerlock which can only be removed with a chain tool. Regards, casspir
