    What Garmin

Get one that uses AA batteries. You'll most probably use the back light function at night and it drains batteries. Take a spare set or two along. Look at the eTrex series available from Avnic. See http://www.avnic.co.za/showproducts.php?categoryid=2&subcategoryid=8 regards, c
  3. Being arrogant will only flame the problem. Last night I took my son to meet a committee of a sport (not cycling related) he is interested in. The chairman asked if I also took part in this particular sport to which I answered no, I rather cycle. He immediately informed me of the early morning bunches on the coastal road riding 3 and more abreast and not allowing any vehicle safe passing by. He is so irritated that he is considering throwing thumb tacks along the road. I have previously mentioned my experience of a positive attitude by drivers in general (taxi's included) in PE. I have also mentioned a bunch occupying the whole oncoming lane and 1 idiot even riding in my lane. We have to change the way the common road user (vehicles) see us as cyclists. That implies we have to behave according to rules and norms. Ride sensibly! regards, c

What are the differences between a compact and a regular frame? Are there more different frames? Regards c
  6. Thanks JB
  7. Is there any problem in using both these products at the same time on the same tyre? My Stan stock is depleted and Joe's is cheaper. Must I clean the tyres of Stans before using Joe's? Regards, c
  8. I went cycling on a rather narrow coastal road this morning. A bunch approached and they filled the lane on the opposite side. One individual however cycled along with the bunch in the middle on the approaching lane (my side). And he was clearly not overtaking. He had no intention of giving way. Resulting in me having to move onto the broken shoulder of the road. To me this is kinda arrogant. How do I handle such a situation? regards c
  9. Ek kan die Mapsource l?er deurstuur as jy wil. PM my jou e-pos adres dan stuur ek dit. Nee, ek het dit nie gery nie, maar het wel die vorige rit se data. Groete c

  12. I used these plugs this morning for the first time. What a pleasure to fix a gash in the tubeless tyres! Where can the strips or plugs be sourced om their own? The kit is still good for sometime but I might have to get a few plugs extra. Great product. Regards, c

  14. Originally posted by BigBen Nope, you heard me ever giving anything back? Too smart for that (so far .............) Lucky, VERY lucky. Its all quite easy! You bought it on a sale! And you and the LBS owner has agreed on a disclosure price (incredibly reduced) should your loved one (SWAMBO) try to confirm the price!
  15. I purchased a VT1 in 2004 from a bike shop in CT. I did the K2C and day 1 and 2 of the 2005 Epic on it. In 2006 I took it to the same bike shop to have some work done on it. The fork and suspension needed servicing. Whilst there the owner asked me how I found the bike to which I answered I am gatvol of the bobbing effect. He made me an offer to change to a hard tail. I chose a xtc carbon and a Fox fork. I had to contribute some funds to the changing of frames as well. The trade was made and my components were transferred between frames. To be honest, it was a win-win situation. I still keep that shop in high regard. Maybe attitudes can be the answer. Demanding a replacement is much less favourable than discussing it and being willing to contribute to the deal. Regards, c

  22. I have a Mavic Crossmax Disc rear wheel. Whilst on a stand the rear wheel don't seem to spin so freely as it did initially. There is no disc brake drag that could influence the free-wheeling. I haven't noticed any difference when cycling. What could be the reason and what would be the remedy? Regards, casspir
  23. Paul, For a down to earth, honest and straight opinion, call Johan Bornmann at 0823086847. He is controversial in that he doesn't follow hype and bling, he prefers to follow a conservative long term solution approach. And I agree with Mint Sauce. Regards casspir
