  1. When they are ready, they should be on www.rmbc.co.za and www.cgcycling.co.za That race was a lot of fun - really hones the technical skills.
  2. Think that's the following weekend.
  3. Does anyone know of any races, either road or MTB, over the Easter weekend? I have looked here on the events page, and also on the Lab site. There don't seem to be any.
  4. Thanks
  5. What's the weight of this stuff like?
  6. "Directional" chains are to assist with shifting. I can't see how turning a non-directional chain round periodically can reduce the rate of wear.
  7. Thanks bru
  8. That was a massive improvement on the last one I did. There was one issue on the route though: the organisers had bunting across where we were supposed to go. Some of the leading okes assumed we should turn right but fortunately others saw the route markers, logic prevailed, and we went through the bunting. It was the right way, because we ended up with 53km. Hard to get the route right when it looks like an intestine. I managed third overall on the single speed and I'm flippin happy with that. RE:CM rode well as a team. They were constantly leaving dead wheels so the other could get away. As a result, we spent almost the entire race chasing either Neil or Waylon.
  9. I also don't have one. Hard to justify when there are less than three opportunities to use it each year. I think the Midlands organisers would do well to take a leaf out of the Panorama tour and just specify ordinary bikes for the TT. No idea how many entries. Hopefully lots. About four of us going from Cycle Nation/Bulk Pack Meat.
  10. I'm also doing this as an alternative to Panorama. Looks like a good race. I asked the organisers if they would consider banning TT equipment for the TT but have yet to receive a reply. I reckon 95% of riders would be relieved if they didn't have to bring a TT bike.
  11. Come on guys, don't be harsh. The poor oke is just looking after his sponsor, Nu Water. The more pollution, the greater demand for purified water!
  12. Where are the pics?!?

    Tubbies

Weight is the only advantage. And weight saved on the wheel is more important than weight saved elsewhere, although how much more important is a topic of much debate.
  14. I would be less surprised if the complaint came from the third-placed team. Reminds me of a switching incident back in 2009...
  15. That's exactly the same gear as 32/16, and 32 chainrings are far more common.

+1 Best goodie bag I've had in years
  17. Does anyone know what he tested positive for?
  18. He was, when he got busted, a member of the Cycle Lab 30+ race team. He won his category in the Argus last year, as well as some other races. The announcement doesn't say what he got caught using though.
  19. Garmin. Bryton is a shameless copy of the 500, and if you shop around enough the price difference is not worth penny pinching over. I got my 500 about two years ago for roughly R2.1k (with HRM strap) from Evan's Cycles. It's been a superb gadget, especially for an owner of multiple bikes.
  20. Azonic, well done bra. Nice to see us older okes keeping ahead of the laaities @Roger: He said a marshal sent him the wrong way, which may make him the only 80k rider to stray from the course. All I know is when I rode past him, which was the muddiest section of the route, he was pushing his bike. The organisers gave in and awarded him and me joint fifth. The prize purse was increased so I'm not out of pocket. The Ss was quite badly undergeared for the district roads but it came into its own on the muddy sections. Very happy I was on that bike and not some finicky dual suspension that would now cost 2k to service
  21. Prize giving delayed by more than half an hour due to appeal by B Stewart
  22. Thanks Bennie. I brought my mountain climbing gear so I'm hoping there will still be hills. With the Ss I'm not the least bit worried about the effects of the weather
  23. Anyone know how the changes will affect the total ascent? I'm doing the 80km.
  24. There are not many 29er wheels as bling as Easton Hopes are good hubs but that noisy freewheel can get a little annoying after a while

    Rooiwal tomorrow

Hard to find better value than that. Unfortunately I'm going to miss this one
