  1. Wow, that looks amazing man. Where did you do the respray? Once you do the fork you can nickname the bike the "ship of theseus".
  2. Even though he passed the "truecaller test" it doesnt mean green light at all. In fact, asking for cellphone payment is a MAJOR red flag. Very easy to get a sim card (yes rica is very easy to get past), and put your name on truecaller. However its impossible to get a bank account without having a legit ID book with barcode. Stay very far away from anyone requesting cellphone payments.
  3. No, but that number does confirm the name on truecaller so its not an alias. Why?
  4. Couple of Qs. Could you elaborate on the effect of the patches? Do you just simply not crave smokes anymore? Also where do you get them, how long do they last and how much do they cost?
  5. How many beers do you usually have for breakfast?
  6. Hey guys, need a road crank with standard shimano threaded bb. Condition doesnt matter too much as long as its mechanically sound. Obviously willing to pay, just not finding a cheap one on the ads at the moment.
  7. My take on on the whole gopro thing is this: 1. Mine also collects dust most of the year, but that odd time i get to go do somthing cool i like having one. 2. As has been mentioned, cycling videos just look boring as hell unless the scenery is out of this world or you're an actual professional bombing down the red bull rampage course. 3. Because of this, the videos you end up with are kinda useless, theyre not the type youd wanna show people. BUT - I've found that when i do use my gopro i most often use the setting where it takes a picture every 2 seconds. At the end of the session of whatever you were doing you scroll through and if youre lucky you end up with a few great photos. Pausing the video for a screenshot is not even close to the quality of the gopro taking actual photos. Photos are a lot more usable than video. Ive ended up with some great photos doing this.
  8. Potential scammer : "Jaco.R", +27781108877. Funny enough my name and same letter that my surname starts with. Anyway, responded to my wanted ad for a bb and the screenshot will show you how the interaction went. I think its safe to say it wasnt sent. Weird one.
  9. Scam for sure. The ID thing and the sir part are dead giveaways in my experience.
  10. They're working on revamping the hub and launching in August. Theyre going to introduce a number of new things and one is prompting feedback. Doubt it will be completely compulsory, but will definitely increase ratings.
  11. Exactly, so you agree its much better. About people not rating enough - people rate enough to make the system work. People dont rate as often if a deal was good, but they sure as hell rate when a deal was bad, which is a good thing when looking at a sellers ratings. Ive sold probably around 50 things, never had someone unhappy, and dont have a bad review. And only like 10 or so good ratings. My point is, if someone has a bunch of good ratings and no negative ones then post count is completely irrelevant. Do you honestly think someone would look at my ratings and decide not to deal with me because I don't have a 1000 posts? And no need to be condescending with the whole "i cant believe i actually need to point this out".
  12. Well then its damn silly imo. Not only is 1000 way too many, but its irrelevant to the marketplace anyway. User feedback is so much better and more relevant. Most people don't even bother with the forums anyway. Do the people that claim this 1000 post rule just think theyre special? Just checked the top 5 rated traders on the hub and one has 0 posts, three around 200 and one under 500.
  13. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/182086-forthelove-misleading-incorrect-dodgy-seller-on-bikehub/page-1 Wouldn't say so. This guy has 82 posts (ok not 100 but close enough) and he just blatantly scammed this giy. Some people just dont care for their reputation, for R1250, its beyond me honestly.
  14. Shouldn't be too difficult to code. Instead of deleting a post there could be a sold button as well. Even a pending one (like fb marketplace). It then asks you for info such as the price you sold it at, and also gathers data on how long it took to sell based on how long the ad was up for. Sure its not a perfect system if people forget to mark it as sold for a while etc, but it could still be quite useful. All those ads then go into a new "sold" category that is only there to get an idea of market value for sellers. Im probably getting ahead of myself now but it could also be cool to see a chart or so of what a particular bike sold for. But it would mean that bikehub would have to have a database of bike models though. For example, when you post an ad now it asks for mtb/road, then ht/dually etc. But if it then asks for brand, then model etc then overtime a chart could be generated for any bike. And then if you click on any data point it will take you to the sold ad so you can see all the information of the particular bike. It would hopefully help decrease the number of overpriced listings but sadly the big bargains too.
  15. Yeah and his price is completely silly. He'll get half of that if it was the complete bike!
  16. Couldn't agree more
  17. I get really annoyed with people trying to sell things close to or even over retail price. And seems to be very common. Some things i sell takes time, other things can sell within minutes. One thing i noticed as well - low end bikes sell better on facebook than on the hub. High end bikes and all other things such as components are better on the hub. If it doesnt sell, just drop the price incrementally until it does, and keep it if it doesnt sell for the lowest you'll take, simple. People are complaining about the fact that people want bargains, well of course they do, everyone does. Its basically the whole point of buying used stuff.
  18. Are you going to be using a clutch derailleur? If so you wont have much chain slap so going with that clear stuff or anything thin is okay. If youre not using a clutch rd then id go with neoprene, inner tube or anything thick since you'll be having a lot of slap.
  19. Couldn't agree more, and coloured cables just look messy anyway. Cables are not meant to be a feature, one 9f the reasons internal routing is becoming the norm these days. And why fixies look so cool. The cleaner a bike the better it looks.
  20. Ive also tried to contact him in the past. He replied to my dm, but then never to my email. I assume he has enough jobs to not want any more. He also never gives out his number.
  21. Well if it comes with a crank (thats a decent one too), youre sorted. Does it come with a seatpost? That could be your only last issue. If the new frame takes a narrower seatpost, then you need a new seapost. If it takes the same one thats obv perfect, and if it takes a wider one you just need a shim to make the narrow one fit. The rest of the stuff will go on no problem.
  22. Cant say that for sure. You cant just slap any cranks into any frame, for example theres no way you can get a bb30 crank into a non bb30 frame. But with most other cranks the worst case would be needing a compatible bb. Does the new frame come with one? Do you kmow the bb types of the 2 bikes?
  23. Definitely, the only 2 things that might be different that could cause a slight hiccup would be seatpoat diameter and the bottom bracket standard for your cranks.
  24. Does that include the chainring? Not a bad deal
  25. Yeah what do you crank arms are much cheaper than entire cranks? They're the exact same thing, the spindle is part of the drive side crank, its all one piece.. The resale on those xx cranks are unfortunately terrible because theyre not meant for 1x. If youre not concerned to go carbon again then there are many options. Get any sram crank that has a removable spider, then you can get a dm chainring if you want, otherwise the bcd tends to be 94 if im correct. If you want carbon again, the xo cranks are super popular for good reason.
