  1. Well, I must say I will not be doing the Double century again due to safety concerns and the Jacaranda Cycle classic also was terrible last year, not sure about this year after they moved the venue. But I must say sometimes the cyclist are also very irresponsible , I have seen in our race wher we do not have road closure where a guy tries to break away but will go into the right hand lane with oncoming traffic in the hope the others are to scared to follow.
  2. where do you guys get the photos
  3. I did my second DC the past weekend and apart from teams being disqualified was thinking very hard if I would do the race competitively again. We had to pass teams sometimes in the right yellow lane never mind the right hand lane. Saw how Nuwater almost crashed with a car at the 110 km Mark between Ashton and Montagu when they were trying to pass teams on the right with oncoming traffic. At some stages we were passing cars that were passing cyclists. At the speeds we were going it is just not safe enough was my conclusion.
  4. Not bad for a Bteam. Think maybe I must swop teams. Think my team can realistically achieve Sub 6 but I might be weakest link that will fit more into 6h30 mark. But lets see on Saturday.
  5. Thanks, that looks promising.
  6. What is best place to check weather for Swellendam see YR does not have swellendam.
  7. 06:41 for us. Good luck to myself and may my leggs hold.
  8. Went to collect my number at arounf 17:00 . Did not pay for parking. Queued for full two minutes. Received my number as well as that of a friend two minutes later. Not much in the goodie bag(OFM was 300% better) but here to race not to collect shampoo. No Gripes. Would have loved to see a bit more bikes, but guys all cycleshops are known and do not really benefit from all the work to move their stock to the dome for two days.
  9. Will have to give it a mis . Need to spend some time with Family after OFM, 94.7 and Double century. Hope you have a good event so I can join you next year.
  10. Age should not be to much of factor Last year our oldest rider did 7:38 @66 years old. This year a different team avg around 40 years aiming at 06:00
  11. Our team did a good ride this weekend , will be first time as a team , will be riding in our normal club kit but will be looking for 06:00 to 06:30 as well. Hope the wind a bit less than last year.
  12. I almost want to agree with you but some people just bigger and bone density higher.Everybody I know tells me I must put on weight as I look to thin. However the Body Mass index says I am overweight and I never get my Vitality points for being in the correct weight.
  13. Hi, Went over handlebars the past weekend as well and hit my head. Lost consciousness and saw after that I have real damage to helmet although I am OK now. Very glad about wearing my helmet. It is a bell and they have crash warrantee which I was not aware of so getting new one at 30% of the price. They just wanted the old one, which is in pieces any way. The manufacturers normally says to replace after any hard impact.
  14. Jip, Jy is in die kol.Voel darem weer skep vandag.
  15. Another guy hit the chevron. Fell in front of me. Never even touched the brakes, went over the handlebars and apparently broke my fall with my head.If I did not had a helmet on I would not be typing this today.
  16. Happy the vibe is mostly positive even after few crashes. We will need to see what can be done to get those chevron boards in a straight line next year. A friend drove the route the weekend before and fixed 99% of the road but some spots were missed although very few. See you guys next year.
  17. Eventually back on air again, after being in crash close to the end. Thanks to the ER24 paramedics and Cycleworld guys assisting me. Heard from my wife about the help as I did not know about it. Actually not suposed to look at computer screen according to the doc due to concussion. My helmet is broken in pieces after my head broke my fall. Just a reminder about the importance of wearing that helmet. Luckily nothing broken. Will still see what the doctors bill will be, but had nice race. Improved on my time from last year. Lost about 5 min with the fall but broke 2h45 so not unhappy.
  18. Lekker training ride gehad vanoggend. Voorspelling se nie veel vind more maar se ook nie te veel wind vandag. Sien julle manne more op die lyn.
  19. Stem goeie waarde in goodie bag.
  21. You are I do not know all the times but you are asuming BL starts after AL.Remember there might be a Ladies Elite group or Junior groups inbetween. Check it out at Expo. But there won't be 25 min gaps.
  22. Last group is J
  23. Jy moet daai lig net na die regterkant toe skuif. Hy skyn nou net vir scramblers op die sypaadjie.
  24. MTB or road. Road open groups are 5 min apart.
  25. Last year groups A-C broke three hours . 8 guys only from C but 31 in B. So sticking to front of B should do the trick
