  1. Wheels are built, thanks to JB at Yellow Saddle. Just a recap: Hope Pro 2 Evo QR front hub - gunsmoke Hope Pro 2 Evo SS rear hub - gunsmoke Sapim double butted spokes Velocity Blunt SL rims Hope floating rotors 160mm gunsmoke Racing Ralphs 29x2.25
  2. Why Pipedream? Don't know? Saw their bikes, liked the look and the fast response to my questions.
  3. SLR flow is the only saddle I'll ride. I've had SLR Gel Flow, SLR Kit Carbonio Flow, the precious SLR XC Flow and now this one. Awesome saddles, even for long days.
  4. Some more arrivals for this build
  5. If you're going to change your crank, then go for any one of the 4x104 bcd cranks. Shimano 780/785, some of the FSA and mate one of the many commercial SS rings to it. I'm not sure if the XX1 chain will fit your 10 speed cassette.
  6. Just get a SS specfic front ring in whatever size you fancy. You don't need to change the crank. Oh, and a chainguide. I ran a 33 Blackspire Mono Veloce front ring with a MRP 1x chainguide with a 34x12 rear cassette. No issues at all. I didn't feel like I ran out of gears either up or down.
  7. OK, so the bullet was bit. One medium Pipedream Skookum Ti with sliding dropouts and 44mm headtube on its way. Should arrive just before Christmas. So far, Pipedream has been on the ball, responding to emails quickly and efficiently. Had some other items arrive today, so will post pictures tonight. http://www.pipedreamcycles.com/2012/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/7028791759_c7d91480a1_z-90x90.jpghttp://www.pipedreamcycles.com/2012/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/6880192198_d787dbd955-300x300.jpg
  8. Lost control, not lost my mind!!!
  9. Question? Seeing that this is a build thread, what rigid fork do you suggest I go with? I had considered the Niner RDO, but the cost is making me gag. Other options, the new Ritchey Carbon?
  10. I already have a steel, rigid SS and am looking for something to complement it. The Ti Pipedream is very compelling.......
  11. Hopefully going to testride the Lynskey on the weekend. Both the Skookum Ti and the Kona are Lynskey built, so then it (should) be just a brand choice. Pipedream have frames available in my size. Going to have a long, hard think about this......
  12. Was considering the Pipedream Skookum in 853, but now I'm leaning towards the Ti Skookum or the Lynskey Ridgeline SL29 or possibly the Kona Raijin
  13. Pretty much. Problem is, the frame I was looking at, seems a little pedestrian for these components.
  14. I think its my problem to solve. Thanks for the offer of help BTW, nice avatar. Been there, done that, bought that T shirt.
  15. So, after this little incident took place: http://www.thehubsa....s/#entry1817303 I was fortunate enough to have the insurance pay out for my loss. Cool, I thought, I can build myself a decent SS. Reynolds 853 frame, XT brakes, reasonable wheels. If I look at what arrived in the post today, I seem to have lost sight of my goal somewhat.
  16. Called the EMS this morning and apparently my CRC parcel is out on delivery i.e. on its way to me. I'm on tenterhooks as its 15h30, and they only deliver until 16h00. Hoping it gets to me today still............
  17. I suggest that you pop in at The Cycle Hub at Rietvlei Farm on Swartkoppies Road. Chat to Wendell, he can advise you on rides, outrides, etc. Otherwise, PM him here.
  18. When you ordering? I need one kit for the Kona and possibly a second kit too
  19. So I've been told. It really was a moment of weakness, but the look of them sold me.
  20. Silver DT Competition laced to black Velocity Blunt SL
  21. R1500 a side, including braided hose. Floating rotors are R436 each
  22. I should have these items in my grubby paws next week......
  23. Why, thank you. Nice looking bike, BTW.
  24. Looks like a KCNC Ti Pro Lite.
  25. What about Lemax? I have the LX1 and LX2. Fantastic lights.
