  1. I can vouch for the Blunt SL rims. Nice and wide, mine are built on Hope Pro II Evo hubs. The wider rims seem to give a bit more support and volume, especially if you are running wider tires, 2.2 upward.
  2. Borealis Yampa http://www.oldspokeshome.com/sites/default/files/imagepicker/7/IMG_6548.jpg
  3. I'll be round later for that coffee......
  4. I have blue one for my 20 month old. Got to get them young, before Playstation rots their brains
  5. Really enjoyed today. First 94.7 for a couple of years. Rode from a corporate bond in W on my SS. Overestimated my fitness, 42x18 is too big a gear. Paid for it by cramping on every hill from the N14. Did a 4h40ish, so need to do some work for next year.
  6. Ok, so this kinda, sorta, maybe fits in here. I needed something a little faster rolling than my 29er SS for the 94.7 next week, and I don't really own a road bike. You know when you stare vacantly at one of your possessions and an idea is born? Enter the FrankenKona! My Kona Unit with some Velocity Deep Vee wheels, shod with Schwalbe CX Comp tyre (thanks to Stretched@Birth), 42 big ring from a 10 speed SLX crank and a 19 rear cog. Bars are Ragley Carnegies riser bars, run inverted. Not sure if she fits into any specific category, but she feels fast, fun and comfortable.
  7. Sort of. Kona Unit 29er with 42x18 and CX tyres
  8. Not sure if I can post this here. Kona Unit SS 29er frame with Velocity Deep V's and Schwalbe CX Comp tyres. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/12/baha8ata.jpg
  9. Why not? I'm 90kg and I'm running 2 sets, both on rigid SS bikes. The first set is two years old, the second a year. No issues, straight and true even with my carefree attitude to tyre pressure.
  10. Weather was perfect, route was great, so much of singletrack! Route marking could have been better, had to backtrack twice. Also got around 28km on the SS. And the beer, oh so welcome at the end!
  11. Any good hub, Hope, DT240, etc, laced to Velocity Blunt SL rims.
  12. and Ti is Fli............ I'll leave now......
  13. Worst thing I did was buy Hope brakes. Tech X2 Evo in particular. Reason, I can't afford more sets for my other bikes
  14. Yip, its on my wishlist too. They are reasonably plentiful in the classifieds, especially as part built projects. There are limitations to what motor you can fit if you intend racing it, but, in my opinion 140bhp in a 600kg car is plenty fun.
  15. Great ride, guys. Thanks a lot. Rouxtjie, we have to make it across to your side for one of these soon.
  16. Wot's a RD?
  17. Yip, still on.
  18. I just used the big ring from a standard triple crank and respaced the rear to get the chain line correct.
  19. JP Weigle Frame Saver. No thanks required. Boiled linseed oil is also an alternative to the above.

    Bike Bells

I'll let you know what its like when mine arrives. Hopefully November sometime.
  21. I have two steel bikes. A Kona Unit from 4130 Chromoly and a Bridgestone RB1 built from Ishiwata 022, rumoured to be at least as good in its day as 853. Love the feel of steel.
