  1. Hope Pro 2 Evo built with Velocity Blunt SL rims and Sapim spokes. No rider weight limit and a nice wide, stiff, lightish (420g for 29er) rim.
  2. I found the narrower cog does mar the aluminium free hub body quite quickly if you are a masher on the SS. Any of the SS cogs with the wider base would be better, Gusset, Surly, Endless, Halo, etc. I have had the Surly on my wheels for about 4000km and the free hub isn't marked at all.
  3. Nope, Alberton.
  4. In our area we have a little black golf that runs around, little bit of modding, but indistinguishable from any other black golf on the South Rand. His modus operandi is to pull up next to windgatte at robots, and if they give him the "eye", gives them the go ahead. Cue windgat pull off, and some blue lights come on. Next thing, young windgat must please explain to the constable why it appears as though he is illegally drag racing on public roads Entrapment or not, its reduced dragracing in the area by quite some margin.
  5. I have a pair of adaptors that come off an A2Z front hub that you are welcome to try. I don't have the wheelset that they come off of, as it was stolen last year. PM me if you are interested.
  6. Nice! I have the 18, 19 and 20 tooth versions. The 19 has been on the bike for a year now and no signs of wear. For my new build I am trying out the Velosolo front ring, looks great, hoping it works great too.
  7. I'm a bit wary, new product from Thomson, not their usual material. Was possibly thinking about the Crank Brothers Cobalt 3 bar, stem and seat post as an alternative.
  8. Finally, a bit of an update: Frame left the Netherlands yesterday, so I should have it in my sticky paws by the end of the week 2013 Ritchey carbon fork is also due in January. Only question is, what finishing kit? If I go Thomson stem and seatpost, what bar do I get? Otherwise, Ritchey WCS 10D alloy bar in 700mm with WCS alloy stem and seatpost?
  9. RIP Burry. I only met you briefly after your win at SSWC, but you struck me as a humble person. Your willingness to mix it up both on and off the single track showed you as a true ambassador of our sport. You will be missed.
  10. Pipedream Skookum or Sirius Ti. Stuart is very responsive to email. My Skookum Ti is on its way..... BTW, the frames are Lynskey built. www.pipedreamcycles.com
  11. Wheels are built, thanks to JB at Yellow Saddle. Just a recap: Hope Pro 2 Evo QR front hub - gunsmoke Hope Pro 2 Evo SS rear hub - gunsmoke Sapim double butted spokes Velocity Blunt SL rims Hope floating rotors 160mm gunsmoke Racing Ralphs 29x2.25
  12. Why Pipedream? Don't know? Saw their bikes, liked the look and the fast response to my questions.
  13. SLR flow is the only saddle I'll ride. I've had SLR Gel Flow, SLR Kit Carbonio Flow, the precious SLR XC Flow and now this one. Awesome saddles, even for long days.
  14. Some more arrivals for this build
  15. If you're going to change your crank, then go for any one of the 4x104 bcd cranks. Shimano 780/785, some of the FSA and mate one of the many commercial SS rings to it. I'm not sure if the XX1 chain will fit your 10 speed cassette.
  16. Just get a SS specfic front ring in whatever size you fancy. You don't need to change the crank. Oh, and a chainguide. I ran a 33 Blackspire Mono Veloce front ring with a MRP 1x chainguide with a 34x12 rear cassette. No issues at all. I didn't feel like I ran out of gears either up or down.
  17. OK, so the bullet was bit. One medium Pipedream Skookum Ti with sliding dropouts and 44mm headtube on its way. Should arrive just before Christmas. So far, Pipedream has been on the ball, responding to emails quickly and efficiently. Had some other items arrive today, so will post pictures tonight. http://www.pipedreamcycles.com/2012/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/7028791759_c7d91480a1_z-90x90.jpghttp://www.pipedreamcycles.com/2012/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/6880192198_d787dbd955-300x300.jpg
  18. Lost control, not lost my mind!!!
  19. Question? Seeing that this is a build thread, what rigid fork do you suggest I go with? I had considered the Niner RDO, but the cost is making me gag. Other options, the new Ritchey Carbon?
  20. I already have a steel, rigid SS and am looking for something to complement it. The Ti Pipedream is very compelling.......
  21. Hopefully going to testride the Lynskey on the weekend. Both the Skookum Ti and the Kona are Lynskey built, so then it (should) be just a brand choice. Pipedream have frames available in my size. Going to have a long, hard think about this......
  22. Was considering the Pipedream Skookum in 853, but now I'm leaning towards the Ti Skookum or the Lynskey Ridgeline SL29 or possibly the Kona Raijin
  23. Pretty much. Problem is, the frame I was looking at, seems a little pedestrian for these components.
  24. I think its my problem to solve. Thanks for the offer of help BTW, nice avatar. Been there, done that, bought that T shirt.
  25. So, after this little incident took place: http://www.thehubsa....s/#entry1817303 I was fortunate enough to have the insurance pay out for my loss. Cool, I thought, I can build myself a decent SS. Reynolds 853 frame, XT brakes, reasonable wheels. If I look at what arrived in the post today, I seem to have lost sight of my goal somewhat.
