  1. Keep your feet on the pedals?
  2. Well, I learnt something too......
  3. Having upgraded to the Isomac Cafetera that the_nerd posted earlier in the thread, I now have a Saeco Manual espresso machine looking for a new home. Great entry level machine.
  4. A little closer to home...... The Dutchmann Weekend Racer Sport at the 2014 Simola Hillclimb www.dutchmann.co.za/wrs.phphttp://www.dutchmann.co.za/images/wrs_start.jpg
  5. SLX. Fit, forget, go ride. They just work.
  6. I built a Kona Unit that looks pretty blingy for under R12k, orange frame, orange hubs, black rims, spokes, carnegie bar, truvativ T20 seatpost, KCNC stem, Surly rear cog, Blackspire front ring. The only mistake I think I made was skimping on hubs. I have circus monkey hubs and, from new, can make that freehub skip. Go Superstar, build with Velocity Blunt SL rims, 2.35 tyres, you'll never look back. My other SS, on the other hand, was an absolute money pit......
  7. Nice bike. Maybe post a picture with the component specs and we can comment further
  8. So, after a week of fruitless self medication, I went off to the doc last night. Sigh, its your usual, run of the mill, URTI that seems to be a bit more stubborn than usual. Antibiotics should clear me up by the end of the long weekend.
  9. I'm also suffering from the dreaded lurgy, since last Friday, to be exact. Hoping to shrug it off by the weekend, gives me a further week's recovery before Dusi2c.
  10. You can also try David Marshall at Spoke and Spanner. He posts on the Hub occasionally. I was very happy with the wheel rebuild he did for me.
  11. Cane Creek definitely will have.
  12. Pics please! I had a similar dilemma, as I have a complete period correct Shimano 105 groupset that I could have transferred across. Personally, I think Italian components on an Italian bike makes the most sense.
  13. Thanks guys. I'm Alberton based, so generally ride South of Jhb, Lido route, Walkerville, circus, etc. The nice thing about this frame is that it has modern hub spacing i.e. 130mm, so wheels weren't a problem and also Campagnolo still makes Italian threaded BB cups for their UT cranksets, so it was all relatively easy to "modernise". Maiden voyage this weekend, in between training for Dusi2c.
  14. My (semi) retro build. 1989 Daccordi Mitico with 80's ITM seaport, 3ttt Grand Prix handlebar, Campagnolo groupset (Chorus UT crank, Centaur skeleton calipers, Record carbon Ergo's, Record front hub, Vento rear hub), San Marco Zoncolan saddle and Time RXS pedals.
  15. So what would the typical lifespan of the BB be?
  16. Sorry to hear about your Tapi. Bad moults are horrible to deal with and you've being dealing with them for 2 years? Strongs, bud.
  17. I waaaaaant to, but getting a weekend pinkslip so soon after Dusi2c may be a little beyond my meagre charm skills
  18. Looks like a mid to late 2000's Vento. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/88119-campagnolo-vento-wheelset-for-sale-with-tyres/ Can you PM me details on the Shamals?
  19. Hi guys, Looking for a little help finishing a 1989 Daccordi Mitico to use as my only road bike. Its currently built up with a mix of Campagnolo parts, mostly modern, but I'm really looking for a Campagnolo wheelset to fit a 10 speed cassette to finish the bike off. My parts list: Chorus carbon Ultra Torque 53/39 crankset Record 10 speed carbon shifters Centaur skeleton brake calipers Centaur aluminium front and rear derailleurs ITM seatpost Selle San Marco Zoncolan saddle The only Campagnolo wheelset in the classifieds that I want (or can afford) is the Vento, but I'm battling to get hold of the seller.
  20. It should have come with one. Otherwise, check On-one for their steel forks or find a Kona P2 fork.
  21. check the hub for play. the bearings might need adjustment or replacement
  22. A doctor with a rubber glove and lubricant.......
  23. Sounds like it might be an internal hemorrhoid, the "internal" itching and the stabbing pain. Lifted anything really heavy recently?
  24. George is a wizard. I popped in there, looking for some older parts to finish my 80's Daccordi and happened to mention it had a bent fork. Seeing that its steel and can be cold set, George suggested that I drop it off with him, to see if he could sort it out. Two hours later, get this call, "come pick up your fork". Its perfect. George took the time to show me that it was straight and level in all planes. Didn't find the parts I was looking for, but will definitely be back.
  25. I know Thomson make one in that size, along with a matching seatpost clamp.
