  1. …will it be returned to owner, or destructed?
  2. Whew, that de-generated QUICKLY! It was meant to be ONE coffee with Brandy, under a Gazebo/Marquee, whilst braving the elements for 60 mins -only. Many parent have compact cars and NOT 4-ton death-machines; hysteria much?!!! I see where you are going, and will agree to differ, since I am an (unashamed) fan-boy of your 99.9% well-thought-through posts! Tim, too, thinks an alcohol sponsor brings a ‘dynamic’ to a Winter series, ok, let’s TEMPORARILY ‘park’ the booze sponsor, and focus on who/what/where/when…?! I actually hesitated posting here, given EXACTLY naysayers, but I feel you are NOT one, so onwards/upwards! NO NEED for a-n-y-o-n-E with a Gravel bike to spend a red cent; sling the bike over that shoulder, and run up that grassy bank, why-don’t-ya! You get my drift; show up, ride for 45 to 60 minutes, then go home with a warm glow! Cheers, Chris
  3. Back in 2008, I wrote a proposal to hold a Cape & JHB Cyclocross series, TOGETHER with a chap called Ivan Blumenthal (JHB), but as he had unexpected headwinds, we killed off the idea… it was a WINTER series in the Cape (rain + mud), and SUMMER series in Jozi(rain+ mud)… NOW, with the sheer number of Gravel bikes around, the time is right - to re-invigorate the idea, and start afresh. I shared my idea with Tim Brink 3 weeks back, and he in turn shared with me their (Bicycling) plans also to hold a CX series, but S Suburbs venue was logistically tricky. Tim then sent me the DETAILED, 10-odd page manual onCX Course Design; someone must run with this, schools are about to permit the sale/consumption of alcohol for approved events(Brandy sponsor!),so this could come to pass, with the right organiser…
  4. The Green ’Cathedral’… I LOVE this description - brilliant! Gave me a GOOD chuckle! 👍 Chris
  5. Well, what a balanced, well-measured interview! Watched the 1 hour 40 min interview largely uninterrupted, and Remco impressed me greatly. New found respect for the young man. Chris
  6. I don’t think ‘they’ are missing the ‘point’ whatsoever, they are fundamentally DISAGREEING with your point; this is what happens on Forums…. they HEARD you, and disagreed. maybe lay off the ‘lecturers and professors’ sarcasm; it degrades, rather than enhances, your argument. I did not ride. The route looked uninteresting to me…
  7. A good, safer TT ride is to park -and start - from within the SOETWATER reserve near Kommetjie (safe parking), then out of the reserve and right at ONE 4-way stop, then right at ANOTHER, 3-way stop (base of Red Hill), up to Cape Point Nature Reserve, around a CIRCLE, and all the way back, with a stop-street in Scarborough. (their is a cattle grid AT the circle - proceed slowly, OUT OF the TT bars!) this route is exactly 40km’s (standard tri cycle leg distance) and has LOWISH traffic volumes and ALMOST zero hard stop streets…. Enjoy!
  8. …subscribe…
  9. ….subscribe, I have a pair of Nike (yes, Nike) cycling shoes from T-H-I-R-T-Y years ago that I would like to donate… …they are simply too good to bin…!
  10. Afraid you will need to EXPLAIN this to me….🤔
  11. Nice 6th position for Alan H., well done!
  12. …first 12 minutes, or so, many of the comments same as what Hubber’s are saying; but presenter will reassure you that BOTH have their place, with little to set them apart!
  13. …sponsors got to be recognised, but - whew - I do get tired of reading the FULL title every time it is repeated in an article. Did a few Cape Epics; was nice that is was MOSTLY j-u-s-t the Cape Epic, although we knew ABSA was a title sponsor…
  14. I would bury them, each separately, on a beach somewhere; WITHOUT the hanging ribbon; …you may then give SEVERAL metal-detector ‘sweepers’ SEVERAL ‘heart-attacks’, when they discover the lost Bullion…. 😉
  15. Lekker little leg loosener, Hout Bay to Simonstown, and back… Near wind-still in HB, BIG wind in Fish Hoek/Simonstown; gotta love Cape Town, 2 different weather-systems 25km apart! 😅
  16. C.U.D. never HEARD of that condition, but I have SUFFERED from it! 😆
  17. I think stating the bike SIZE (or your height),: as well as where you LIVE, will help your request. good luck Chris
  18. Yes, I use that’ corridor’ frequently, both as a runner and cyclist; works brilliant, thank the guards for opening the lower gate each time air use it; in a word it is seamless!
  19. I wonder if there is any ‘opportunity’ in a structured, high-level proactive approach asking the developers / owners to allow/enable a sustainable MTB trial to pass through the extreme lower- or -upper reaches of the to-be-developed property, selling it to them on corporate responsibility, blah, blah, etc. A missing link, indeed! “Completing a link around the table” Got to hope! Chris
  20. Excellent news. Any chance of PROSECUTION of the buyer? I MUST ask, even though I can guess the answer… Well done, story with a happy ending! Chris
  21. I ride Hout Bay -Simonstown via Fish Hoek on eMTB, then RETURN via Black Hill…. Getting a bit ‘tired’ (bored) with Black Hill, keen to explore the Glen Road/ Glencairn ‘STABLES’ path, or other do-able MTB track route, any tips/hints where to try? Even direct from Simonstown, but have heard that route should not be tackled alone? Thanks Chris
  22. Whew, 17-odd c-o-n-s-E-c-u-t-I-v-E weekends (and a couple of Public Holidays, too), nogal impressive!
  23. Love the expression! Going to borrow it!
  24. I’m still wondering what / where Morne’s ‘GOOCH’ is? Never heard of one of them…. 🫢
  25. Never seen any 2nd hand, but will also listen out for you. I may this Summer, put a 3rd set on a (3rd) bike, that’s how impressed I am with mine. Chris
