  1. Done, joined the group, And found the video: If in a hurry, skip to 4 minutes in, that is when the 'action' starts!
  2. 12 years later...! Thought I would update the the track up - or down CONSTANTIA Neck is brilliant - I rode it a week back, runs on the left side of C-Nek going uphill, or right going DOWN into Hout Bay, meaning it is dual-directional - keeps MTB'ers and Gravel Grinders off 99% of that BUSY road, up until IY Circle ...has some signage where it changes direction markedly... A VERY well done to the trail builder, I donated a paltry R200 towards his trail-building fund, and now wish I had paid more, if anyone can LINK his details again, will appreciate it! Chris
  3. What was the DISTANCE, please, Rip? thanks Chris
  4. could you please let us know what TIME this happened? (sorry to hear what happened...) Chris
  5. ...keen to hear how you REALLY feel, Paul?!

    Give it a TRI

If you have had SIX saddles, and all make you numb in 10 - 30 minutes, and tri position is in any case a stressful' body position (on tri bars...) have you tried a bike fit expert before fitting a 7th saddle? Serious question. Good luck Chris
  7. other than 'Benky' Michael Mol; and Schalk Burger sound....familiar?!
  8. got it - thanks, appreciated!
  9. for the uninitiated/uniformed, what exactly is it? thanks Chris
  10. you can EASILY run on the pavement! You just pause for a second for people to either let you past, or else DIP into the road - carefully - for a nano second, and then back on the pavement. Is it perfect? No! But it is eminently do-able. my 5c. Chris
  11. ok, understood, thanks for the clarification. Cheers Chris
  12. I hear you, and you are well informed of the acknowledged tremendous abilities of Tegan; just to re-state what I mentioned a page back; it does SEEM like, on day O-N-E of a cross-africa record attempt, she landed in hospital with - ostensibly - heat stroke, and - by inference - could be imagined to have done too much, too quickly. Not day ten, nor day eight, but day one; but GREAT to hear over-exertion has been ruled out! Her prep sounds solid, and here credentials speak for themselves - at a glance, it just SEEMS she did too much on day 1, but happy to see what the post-hospital prognosis, and will follow her every step of the way. Cheers Chris
  13. You can walk off the road ALL the way from the toll gate down to end of Chappies (Hout Bay side)... Definitely bring your bike down, to cycle Chappies: I live in Hout Bay, and cycle Chappies; just keep left, avoid riding 2 abreast unless it is REALLY quiet, and you will be fine. Cars are pretty respectful of single file cyclists - they go bat-sh!t crazy when a bunch is all over the road, and then not giving way - (MY experience, living in Houties on and off for 30+ years) ...the average Chappies-using motorist wants to get past a cyclist, to get where he is going; keeping well left allows them to pass them easily; no tour buses are allowed in the ONE direction, to help with traffic flow, and hire cars - well, they DO hang back; a simple hand-wave 'instructing' them to move past when it is safe to do so is all you need. Chappies is exhilarating, and relatively safe, just observe basic 'rules' and/or courtesies, and enjoy!
  14. Am I right in thinking this was day ONE of the C-to-C trip? If so, she should really evaluate her efforts / night riding, maybe, or whatever. Even though Egypt is in the Northern Hemisphere, heat can persist; I was in DOHA two weeks ago, 37 degrees in late Autumn… recover soon, Tegan.

    MAAP kit

Jewbacca did not mention that importing a clothing item which has a size-break (XS/s/m/l/xl/xxl/xxl) etc, and then different COLOUR-ways has its own set of REAL logistical challenges - not saying don’t do it, just be aware! good luck Chris
  16. Nice choice of peaceful music; I am 'SO' over AC/DC Thunderstruck!
  17. all noted, some good info there, thanks SS (and Droo) - that is much clearer for me. Yes, my bike in 1x, since it has a Bafang motor fitted, meaning it has only one chainring, so yes, an use the routing for the front derailleur... Cheers, Chris
  18. I THINK I know what you mean, but could you clarify for me? external, since old bike is not 'dropper-post ready', but am happy to have a small hole drilled to allow cable egress - does this still mean external only solution (other than wireless, not going that route). Thanks for clarification, unsure about this point?! thanks, CHris
  19. thanks, Droo; going to hold out for a potential 2nd-hand unit… appreciate the advice! Chris
  20. thanks, Steady: yes, external routing, Lyne seems VERY out of stock at a good few bike shops, and seeing if I can save a buck AND help put money into someone's hands if they have a 2nd hand unit... I think Rapide does do one, will go off and check now, I know SURFACE do one, but also out of stock. Cheers Chris
  21. Hi - I have an old (2004?) SPEZ Epic 26'er, that I am looking to fit an affordable, 2nd-hand DROPPER POST onto... I suspect it is 30.9mm diameter, will CONFIRM this evening... Anything out there? Cheers Chris

  23. Yes, 2x Black & White ‘ID’-type photos, and needed to show driving licence. (they do have the application forms available, and it’s quick to complete, too!) Cheers Chris
  24. Done! Popped into C.U., paid R400, they say it will take no longer than 5 days, so happy with that.
  25. That is beautiful; I could almost see a vintage Brooks saddle on there, rather than, er, that GREEN ‘thing’… nice bike! Chris
