  1. Thanks, Meezo, appreciated.
  2. Are you meaning Constantine Uitsig bike park has the (blank) forms with them? Cheers Chris
  3. Thanks, this sounds really helpful!
  4. I need to renew my annual TMNP (for Tokai) permit - anyone on here needing to renew, and willing to do a 4-way split? …and, anything CHANGED with process since I did same last year. Cheers Chris 072 211 7725
  5. Buff’s Vintage Bikes to maybe advise you, if Brett/Buff knows? Cheers Chris
  6. Thanks, my converted bike is indeed an OLD Specialized Epic, 100mm travel, it was the bike I did 3 Epics on, and could not bear selling it on for pennies, so converted it… I get what you mean when you talk of trail/enduro eBike s, understood! Cheers Chris
  7. Would be keen for you to elaborate on this; I own an e-bike, 26’er admittedly, have never found this, so am keen to learn your thoughts… thanks Chris
  8. Are dropper posts not INVERSE to gas struts on say a SUV rear hatch…? Reason I ask, is that in motorbikes, upside-down forks give the same (similar) suspension effect as right-way-up forks, but using a different principle (unsprung weight…)? maybe THAT is why recommended to store them ‘extended’? Dunno?!!!!!!
  9. my reply does not help add to ROAD riding, but 15 years back, myself (CPT) and a JHB chap (Ivan Blumenthal?) planned a Cyclocross SERIES of races (4 LATE JHB SUMMER, then five in CT WINTER….) on ‘road’ bikes, 1 hour loop, with French Fries truck, Beer truck, and place for families to watch the races from… This was to put VARIETY back into cycling on a ROAD bike, without buying the then-near-unobtainable (and costly) CX bikes… think of it as road bikes, with wider tyres, MTB-style cleats, AND LITTLE ELSE… Was meant to be family-centric, time-constrained, and…FUN, but using an adapted road bike… I think then - and now - there was an unmet need to get more use out of a regular road bike, in safety, for very low cost… the JHB chap, Ivan, had to pull out at planning stage, and shortly thereafter I got posted overseas… but THIS would get me excited… Chris
  10. sorry, not in SA, but seems fair value…
  11. https://cycle-peak.com/products/woodsman-jersey
  12. …you know you will HAVE to have a beard to go with that shirt? I mean a BEARD, not a beard… and occasionally say ‘eh’ after every sentence, Canadian-style…! but I like! Will post some sites you can find it on. cheers Chris
  13. Am not suggesting you travel Qatarair, but having JUST travelled CPT-DOHA, and then DOHA-SYDNEY, was impressed to learn QATAR Air has a T-W-O 23kg bag policy, meaning you can fly a LOT of extra luggage for free; I only took along ONE 23kg bag, but this info MAY help you, or even others…flying with extra ‘stuff’ into Europe… Cheers Chris
  14. Jan, at Flying Brick Motorcycle Accessories, in Cape Town, may be able to assist: Jan 021 510 6455 and web@flyingbrick.co.za cheers Chris
  15. How the rider at 3 minutes 31 seconds gets UP those stairs on the edge-ledge all of 15cm wide defies my logic, I watched that 3 or 4 times, to see if my eyes deceived me! chris
  16. …35 years ago, yes, years…Woolworths had more stringent factory standards to be passed than other retailers… for example, our Cape (Firgrove) packing plant, as well as the Krugersdorp packing plant, had those hanging curtains that exclude flying bugs, etc, at DOUBLE the frequency of what was required, even way beck then, made quite an impression on me. cheers
  17. I wold subscribe to this/these podcast series… please give serious thought to trying this, at least? GO! Chris
  18. Unpopular, contrarian view coming up; as a small business owner (just 9 employees), I am all for the return to work for MOST (not all) staff… we have seen/experienced a massive disruption, or falling in standards from a good few suppliers who ‘work from home’, not reachable until 09.30 or 10am, then again awol from 3pm, or earlier… If work from home meant WORK from home, I could care less; personal experience has taught me that standards have slipped, no doubt while QOL increases for the ex-desk jockey… We were open 5 weeks after lockdown - legally - with a skeleton staff, and then ALL 9 back after 9 weeks. With R650k of COVID loans to survive the shut-down, it’s ALL shoulders to the wheel, to survive. your experience is no doubt different, but working for a large corporate, or a small/medium business, could not be more different, IN MY OPINION. I disagree with your ‘absolutely clear’ statement, yet respect your right to have an alternative view. let us know if you change jobs? chris
  19. I’ll bite: you ended your post ‘just asking’ so here is ‘just replying’… I felt your post WAS provocative/misplaced/likely to derail the topic in the other thread, so happy it has been moved to here… 1. conflating a country’s human right record with that specific thread on the TdF, and the UAE Team in particular, is a bit rich, my opinion… You are conflating government, and cycling… 2. Russia? human rights violations, USA; not much better; fact is, the rapidly ‘Westernizing’ UAE is likely to gradually move towards more-accepted Intl ‘norms’, and even sponsoring an Intl cycling team exposes them to different cultures/races/religions…which can only be a good thing, surely… 3. I spent 3 years in USA, and 3 years in Saudi, and much time in UAE ; in truth, they ALL have serious ‘problems’. Exposure to the globe/different viewpoints/different nationalities, can only be a good thing.the Kashogi murder was tragic/unforgivable, but that is Saudi, and not the UAE… Being highly principled is an admirable trait; potentially derailing the other cycling thread, not so much, again, my5c. Cheers Chris
  20. SP Connect sell a specific, small, anti-vibration mount, for iPhones 11 and up, that interfaces between Billet alu handlebar mount, and the SP Connect case…we sell them for motorbikes, it cures (prevents) the problem you mention. cheers Chris
  21. Rocksole, In the Bo-Kaap, Cape Town city, are very good at repairs; I suspect they could fix that for you. cheers chris
  22. NFSV? Not For Sensitive Viewers? Surely that’s what you meant… NSFW? You got me guessing, here!
  23. I don’t have much experience, but most of the’mixed’ tandems I have seen, the ‘pilot’ has been ONE size larger that the ‘stoker’, as in L in front, M at back…. (when Male in Front, Female behind…but IHAVE seen some Dads riding with SMALLISH children so likely a small at rear?)
  24. I am interested in a local (carbon) set, will commit…
  25. I have gone ‘vice’, if not ‘Vera’s’, and I ride with a lady with a Giant LIV, and she has ‘fooled’ her e-bike controller now, but prior to that she could not keep up with my Bafang after-market install onto my older 26” Spez MTB. Very happy I extended life of an old MTB, A-N-D got next-level (mid drive) performance, to boot, for very little coin. cheers Chris
