  1. I had a set of them, AC 420 Aero 3, great wheels. Got mine from Tarmac SL3 for a good price, and sold them to a hubber for R4000. I loved the hubs, but the braking surface did not compare with my Mavic or Easton wheels. It is my opinion that it is a great wheelset at a bargain price.
  2. I can't remember the model, but there was two on display. The alu went for R20K and the carbon one for R30K, both with Leftys and Sram X9 if I am not mistaken.
  3. The carbon Flash was selling at the Argus expo for R30 000....very sweet deal. I was very tempted, but fortunately my wallet can't accomodate so much cash, and buying with a credit card is traceable by the missus! I would go with the Flash rather than the Momsen, which looks like a decaled blank frame!
  4. One can train with stiff legs, provided it is only the left and right leg!
  5. Not cool at all, sorry to hear about your misfortune! Also noticed a lot of cyclists riding 'postman-style'! Get better soon.
  6. Hey Bender, had a peep at your result, good going my man. What was your kit colour choice, black or red?
  7. Are you sure you have reset your odo before the start, because the reading should be anything between 109 and 110 km.
  8. I had an Andy Schleck chain going up Chappies! Sram Red on a Spez! Other than this very small incident, it was smooth sailing all the way to the finish in under 3 hours!
  9. Racetec confirmed my Sub 3!
  10. @atraut - were you in red spez kit? I was riding a Celeste and Yellow Bianchi with Metropolitan kit - was out front or towards the front of the bunch a lot. I remember a red spez kit coming past me up Suikerbossie and being in the mix until the end. Jip SirK, it was me in red Spez kit. I marked you on Suikerbossie. Had a miss shift and a derailled chain as we hit Chappies, and had a lot of recovery to do when we got to Suikerbossie. Well done on your awesome time!
  11. Your time is calculated from where you cross the blue mat at the start, until you cross the mat at the finish. Results will take some time to be up, hopefully tomorrow!
  12. So who made a sub 3 in the 2011 Cape Argus? If my Garmin is correct, I came in from E group just in time to beat the clock for a sub 3. Will have to wait for official Racetec results to confirm my joy!
  13. I also had to fork out big cash to get road pedals which are lighter than my eggies. Got the carbon Looks for my racing road bike, but still use eggbeaters on my training road bike and mtb. I also prefer the mtb shoe, hence the eggies on my training/groupride bike...so that I can walk around at the coffee stop and stret ch the legs!
  14. Bender my man, join me in red. I have no choice in colour cause I have to pilot my Spez in Spez Team colours! Red will make others see green!
  15. Pick 'n Pay!
  16. Between XT and X9 take the XT, but if you can reach a bit deeper in your pocket, go for X0.
  17. I did'nt like the colour of the valve stems, it was copper, and I wanted the silver!
  18. I will be piloting my Specialized Tarmac SL3 S-Works. My baby just came back form her service, with fresh tubes and fresh grease on her BB30. Starting time : 06:43 - Finishing time : Hopefully before 09:43...or soon there after!
  19. R460 x 2 - 5% = R874
  20. I would like to recommend Sludge Uniseal. Been using Stans for a while, until I had a bad experience, where a small cut would'nt seal. Inserted some Sludge in the tyre, and the cut was immediately sorted. Would not put anything else in my wheels, and it is made in South Africa, for South African conditions.
  21. Yes they are UST, or as Spesh calls them 2Bliss. They are hard to fit on the rim, but once they are on, you can inflate them with a floor pump, no need for bombs or compressors. I've got them on the front and back on my Merida 96 Team, and it makes a huge difference in handling. The 26"x2.1 tyre seems a bit wide, but the bigger volume gives a great ride, and at 500g a piece you save almost a half a kilo on normal UST tyres. The S-Works version, which is not available in SA weighs 460g with a thinner sidewall. The Renegade will be Burry's choice for the Epic this year.
  22. Where did you get the 1c coin.... been looking for one since 1995!
  23. So now I know where my handlebars, stems, seaposts, rotors......etc. comes from. Sweet operation!
  24. Race Kings are great tyres for front and back, but has two disadvantages. They don't last long on tarmac, and they are heavy (700g for UST) if you are weight conscious. Took mine off and replaced them with Specialized Renegade Control (500g). They roll super fast, has plenty gripp for hard pack to intermediate terrain, and are tarmac friendly. Just my opinion!
  25. Lucky Luke, my favourite Evox shake is lime flavour (2 a day), but I have noticed that I just feel better after a race when I drink the chocolate flavour. Maybe is has something to do with contents of the flavourant, don't know, but I am sticking with the chocolate. Also heard a lot of cyclists raving about chocolate. Will be worth it to try the effects on you.
