  1. Glad this one is not a Pro Classic event, so I can give it a miss!
  2. I also noticed that my Giant (something tower) floor pump was inaccurate, so I invested in a Lezyne. They are pricey but are accurate and will outlast my addiction to cycling. I also like the screw-on valve rather than the so-called smart head, which I noticed releases air from your wheel when you remove it. The screw-on valve does not touch the presta valve core and therefore no pressure is released upon removal.
  3. Thanx for the kind compliment SR, but be advised that I still own my Scultura (and a 96 Team) and still regard the Merida's as awesome bikes. Enjoy your Sram experience, cause I know I am!
  4. Very sexy ride you've got there SR! I also converted from Shimano (Ultegra) to Sram, but got the Red to match my S-Works, and must admit that I am thrilled by the performance and crispness! Never used Force, so I am in no position to compare, but all I know is that Sram rocks. I still use XTR/XT mix on my mtb and have absolutely no complaints at all.
  5. The bar is a FSA K-Wing compact with a flat top. Re: Blue Garmin - From where I am sitting, I can hardly notice the colour of the Garmin as everthing is still a blur infront of me!
  6. As seen (pedals and bottle cages) the bike weighs 6.8 kg with heavy conti tubes filled with sealant. Schwalbe tubes and no sealant is 6.6 kg.
  7. Thanx for all the positive posts, me and my baby appreciates it alot! wisecrack - it is a 56 frame Spat - got the Ultremo's from CWC Online (who else?) Mtb Roadie - you are welcome to come visit any time! Will also be in Paarl on Sunday to race this baby!
  8. Took delivery of my brand new Specialized Tarmac SL3 S-Works (OSBB press fit) yesterday....so that makes me Specialized too. My ride is specced with a Sram Red BB30 group, FSA K-Force cockpit, Easton EC90SL carbon wheelset, a Specialized Toupe Team saddle and Schwalbe Ultremo R.1 tyres. My maiden spin was an awesome ride, could not believe what the stiffness and a kilogram weight difference from my previous bike makes. No need for a Power Balance Band with this ride!
  9. Rear casette should still be ok and useable if found!
  10. Nevertheless, these deals were both very sweet to me, as Cycle Lab, which is just up the road from me, opposed to the quotes from up-counrty dealers , saved me at lot of hassle and money, and included free service and other items. Will most definately use this policy again.
  11. I have used Cycle Lab's price matching policy twice during last year when I bought my Merida Scultura and my Merida 96 Team frame and saved a whopping R8000 in total. I supplied them with written quotes (no hassle and pulling out fine print), and not only did they beat the prices, they included other stuff such as a maintance plan, free bike build and some other odds and ends. Two awesome deals in one year. So when I pop into the Lab and sometimes have to pay R10 more for an item, I don't mind at all, cause these guys have save me a lot of moola, and offer a great service.
  12. If I have not splashed so much cash on my new Tarmac S-Works, I would have bought (or at least attempted to buy) this dude's Mavic wheel set! Lucky me, or should I say lucky him, cause I would have hunted the bugger down for R4500, collect my wheels and used his nuts as spare ball bearings!
  13. I own both Rudy Project Rydon (photochromic) and Oakley Jawbones (polarized) and they are both great. I use the Rudy for early morning rides due to the photochromic lenses, which are clear in the dark, and changes to shades as the sun comes up, and the Jawbones for day time riding in the sun because of the great polarized lenses. If you can, get both, or choose the one that suits your riding schedule, and your face.
  14. Looks more like a dog to me! O, nice bike in the foreground!
  15. Good luck to all of you who are shedding some weight in 2011! As my training program assists me to keep my ideal weight, I will not be joining in, but I will however monitor this thread for your respective progresses. Good luck guys!

    Uni Cycling

So riding a road bike (and a mtb for that matter) in normal civilized cycling gear, like the majority of normal cyclists, makes me gay? WTF! It sure beats riding a circus bike dressed as Ronald Mc Donald! I really think you joined the wrong forum, cause I think you are obsessed with the 'mono' (mono-wheel, mono-sexual, mono-minded) side of life. Why not give a gay forum a try, or even better, like I said in my previous post, what about joining Boswill Wilkie. There you will be able to live your dream and track-stand, go backwards (while us normal cyclists are seeking ways to go forward even faster) and do some other circus tricks. Notice to other unicyclists : I have absolutely no problem with an unicycle, think it is rather cool, but I do have an issue with a monkey riding one!
  17. Airbender, that fine looking Raleigh Team racing machine of yours is begging for a set of brand new racing wheels! Get a set of Easton EC 90 SL carbon clinchers!
  18. Hi Chris, need some stuff to build my new S-Works Tarmac, and will appreciite your generosity in this regard. Here is my wish list: - Sram Red full group set (BB30, compact crank 50/34, 11-25 casette) - Selle Italia SLR Fibra in white - Lizard Skin bar tape in white - and I think I will look cool riding in CWC colours too!
  19. Try motorised pacing. Get your missus to drive infront of you in a hatch back vehicle with the hatch open, or on a scooter and keep a pace of about 40km on an open flat road for as far as you can handle it. Increase your speed and distance each week, and in no time you will be flying. Your body will get acquainted to the speed and will be able to handle it without a pace vehicle.

    Uni Cycling

Hey Mr One-Wheeler, I think you've got one heluva nerve to come aboard a cycling forum and to call us normal cyclists gay! Who the f*ck do you think you are? I personally think uni's are cool, but it is best suited for a circus as they are usually associated with Bozo the clown. As much as you love your bike, so do we love our bikes. So stick around on your circus bike, and show some respect to normal people with the normal bikes, or go and join Boswill Wilky!
  21. Hi Chris, are you still in the Xmas spirit. My dual suss is begging for a new XTR 9 speed chain for his stocking, and while you have the calculator in your hand, I need a pair of Giro short finger gloves (in white).
  22. RRP is a concept used in the retail market to protect the consumer. If you entered the shop looking for a pair of shoes, and were offered entry level Sidi's for R1499, oblivious of the fact that it should retail for R1290, chances are that you would have bought it. But since Sidi applied the RRP concept and widely advertised the Nevada's to sell at nothing more than R1290, you are so much more wiser, and in a position to tell the shop assistant where he/she can stick the R1499 mtb shoe (with the two climbing spikes already attached to intestify the discomfort). Be greatfull that we are protected in this regard against inflated profit margins.
  23. Hentus, I am sure this dude's Aspect mtb will look great with a pair of carbon clinchers!
