  1. Dsan, I trust that you had an input on the colour of those shoes, cause I agree with Jughead...not my choice. Actually looks like a pair of shoes my wife would buy to spite me! Nevertheless, you are a fortunate dude to have a wife who loves you and supports your cycling addiction. Enjoy cranking those pedals with your new Mavics bro!
  2. Well done on a great looking bike! Enjoy many miles of cycling pleasure! Will look out for this beaut on Sunday at Bay City!
  3. Two lessons to be learnt....hold your f*cking line, and don't ignore the rider weight limit of those carbon hoops!
  4. Not to sure what the application is for, so I will go both ways.... Chamois Butt'r for riding your bike. KY Jelly for internal lubrication (aka anal).
  5. Airbender, as you already know, I am looking for a Prevail, but they are not yet available in SA. I was not aware of the aero benefits, wanted it more for looks, but thanx for further motivation.
  6. True, no Spez stuff may be shipped...sucks!
  7. Thanx Stray Cat, thats very kind of you. I will see if I can get the product in France. Will pm you tomorrow with more info. Any chance that you can mail the parcel for me before your return?
  8. I have checked out the recommended sites, thanx for the info guys, but it works out a considerable amount, almost the price of the merchandise, let alone the duty fee upon arrival. Still thinks that a personal contact abroad will be the best option.
  9. Thanx, will investigate my options.
  10. I am desperately seeking the assistance from any hubber in London, or the States to purchase a helmet for me and mail (or bring, if you are heading this way) to Cape Town. I have tried the online route, but Spez products are not shipped to SA, and the helmet I am looking for is not available locally. Please pm me for further arrangements if you are kind enough to assist .
  11. With the Argus around the corner, it is a bit difficult to take some rest days now, but as from 14 March I will cooling off for about a week... can't wait to get up at 6 instead of 4!
  12. E for me!
  13. I recommend plain tubes with Sludge Uniseal. If you use Presta valves, get the one with the removal core such as Continental, as Sludge Uniseal can not be injected through the value. If you've got Schrader valves, you're ok, as the cores are all removable. If you can, get a cheap tubeless conversion, as tubeless will always be better. CycleLab sells a Rubena tubeless kit for about R250, and Sludge Uniseal will set you back about R55. So for a small budget of about R300, you can roll on tubeless wheels, provided your tyres will be able to seat properly. I don't believe in Slime tubes, just heared too many people complian!
  14. Your tight budget will not allow for a top end saddle, so you will never enjoy the privileges of comfort weight, performance and durability. Search the classifieds for a good second hand saddle, however the choice will have to be determined by yourself (and your ass), as we are all unique. I thought that Selle Italia was great, until I fitted a Specialized Toupe Body Geometry. Also very happy with my Prologo Scratch Pro.
  15. Will look out for you in the starting chutes. Still kicking off in 'K'? If I don't find you in your group, come to Cat 3, so that you can meet your new bunch for Spring season! I'm hoping to move up to Cat 2 by then.
  16. Since I started this tread some time ago, I had a change of plans, and will no longer race my Merida Scultura 905 Com, but rather this baby (Spez Tarmac SL 3 S-Works with red stuff) ! The Merida will still be used for group rides and training, because she is still a great bike...however not as mean as the Spez!
  17. Awesome bike Johan, will I meet this baby on Sunday at Bay City?
  18. Hey Jnr, saw your ad in the Cycle Tour mag, good one!
  19. Berry, I agree with Lucky Luke, mtb events will up your seeding, provided that you do very well, eg. top 10 positions or so. However, the shorter races only has a weighting of 20% comapred to 34% for the long route road races. Still worth it !
  20. Hey Berry, has that sram for racing not helped you to up your seeding a bit from R?
  21. An 'Argus' light at the 94.7 should have been a sign that it is a scam! Cut your losses and get a proper branded light. By the way, lights are not used during the Argus!
  22. Assos vs Cape Storm = Mercedes vs Toyota. A Toyota is a good reliable car, but it is not a Mercedes. Nothing wrong with Cape Storm, I love my Matrix and Nitros, but I love my Assos more.
  23. Teardrop, I retract my advice regarding the crank set-up, just because you were rude to my favourite bikeshop. These guys go out of their way to make us cyclists here in Cape Town happy. They offer you help, and instead of just declining because of your location, you chirp them k*k. Uncool dude! Suffer on the climbs bro!

    USN

Awesome service from Albe Geldenhuys and USN....cause the boss is a mtbiker!
  25. Hey Big Boy, I was going to ignore your stupid remark about a compact crank, but then I thought wtf, what bullsh*t is this, why the f*ck would people point and laugh. Just because they point and laugh at you? Nothing wrong with a compact crank setup dude, you ride what you wanna ride.By the way, my Tarmac S-Works is fitted with a compact crank, and it suits my style perfectly. Point and laugh at me and people will think that you are going nuts and are probably hysterical!
