  1. Glad I am not that good, cause I would have been very pissed off!
  2. The 11 to 12 kg bracket for a full suspesion is very acceptable. I recently built a Merida 96 Team, and after riding a lightweight hardtail weighing in at 10 kg, I was not happy with the 11kg of the Team, and it took alot of effort to get my size large bike below 10.5 kg. The Merida 96 Team is advertised as 9.5 kg, but then again, that is a size medium without pedals and sealant, and with lightweight non-UST tyres.
  3. CWC rocks big time! They got me rolling on my dream bike at a fantastic price, but most important of all, they treated me exceptionally well. Thanx for the awesome service Chris and Jnr!
  4. Camelbak Podium insulated bottles are the pits. I once froze the contents before a race, and the bottle did such a great job that I only managed to get one sip during the last 20 km of a 100 km race! Don't freeze these bottles, cause they chill big time. I like the Spez bottles, will match my bike, but will have to wait for an insulated version as I am spoilt in this regard.
  5. I've used Shimano's SPD, and in my opinion they are sh*t, to say the least! After only one ride, a brand new set looks worn and tarnished, and the cleat-in is rough, especially if they have seen some mud. After my convertion to Crank Bro's Eggbeaters, I will never ever use another pedal!
  6. What a lot of bullsh*t! Why must I be forced to pay higher prices, only to support local business.Recently I had to source some parts from CRC (a complete FSA K-Force cockpit) because I could not get it locally. Had my mind set on the K-Force for my S-Works, so after consulting a few local shops, the one who actually did my frame, group and the built advised me to shop at CRC, because of availability of parts. CRC is fast, cheap and sufficient...nuff said. They will also get my business in future.
  7. Hi Yumeya, I am seling a white Rudy Sterling (L) with extra padding and visor for R900. The helmet is in a new condition and I only had it on for about 3 short rides. Great helmet, but have too many to get the joy from it, and currently only use my Giro Ionos.
  8. I have also noticed that most bike workshops hang bikes this way, however a fork expert once told me that decent air forks are best cared for it the upright position, better for the oil and seals. I am no expert myself, but it makes sense.
  9. I was on a lightweight hardtail for about a year, and thought that it was great, until I converted to a full suspension (also in the lightweight catogory, a Merida 96 Team). The full sus is just as fast, much more forgiving, and with a lock-out can climb just as good as the hardtail. My riding ability improved, and after a long and hard ride, my body has no complaints at all. Loose the bone-shaker and get that full sus, Agent, you will never look back....just maybe at your friends riding the hardtails!
  10. Hi Airbender Qualifying criteria for Pro Classic League is : CAT 1 EL - Seeding of A-C CAT 1 Sub Vets - Seeding of A-D CAT 2 - Seeding of A-E CAT 3 - Seeding of F-G After the 99er I am sure you will qualify for CAT 2 with a A-E seeding! Sitting this one out, need a break from all the racing (and because of Vissershok ).
  11. Hey Drongo, sorry I did not take your entry-level-bike feelings into consideration when I posted, and for that I apologise! Still don't make out the connection between my bike's top tube and my helmet.
  12. What is your new seeding Airbender? I trust that you are having a great time in the States, and frequent all the cycle shops!
  13. Why not get one like Cancellera was accused of using, hidden in the seat tube, then you can also use it in races such as the Cape Cobra!
  14. I roll on a set of Easton EC 90 SL carbon clinchers and they are very quiet, no creaking sounds at all, just the sound of the wind flowing through the aero spokes!
  15. Are you not the clown who recently broke your seat tube, and yet you are still man-handling your new bike by sitting on the top tube? That is pretty naughty of you!
  16. LegTrap, you would not believe the difference a good set of racing wheels will make to your cycling, until you try it. Before you invest in a set of wheels, consider your application, and obviously weight. Try and stay under 1500 g, and then choose good climbers such as Mavic Ksyrium SL's (about R8000 new) or deep section aero wheels, such as Easton EC 90 SL (about R14000 new). The rotational weight saved on wheels will remarkably improve your speed and handling. Good luck in finding the set that suits you.
  17. After spending a cool R60 000 on my dream S-Works, all I need is for Foxy to come along and tell me what to do with it! WTF, mind your own business Foxy, if it cracks I will source the replacement frame from where the original came from, and that is definitely not your wallet (team manager or not)!
  18. Will be great to meet you. Watch out for me, will be kitted in a Specialized top and riding a S-Works Tarmac.
  19. Their service is great. Pay by cc and expect your goods within 3 days!
  20. Only joking! E for me!
  21. Get an Assos short, it will make the breaking-in process a bit easier. Rode the recent Boland race on my new Tarmac S-Works with a Specialied Toupe Team (also 143) wearing my Assos, and I could not tell the difference from my previous Prologo.
  22. Edge 500 bundle comes with two mounts, and the replacement bike mount has one quarter turn and one Forerunner adapter in the box.
  23. This morning there was two important tasks on my to-do-list... replace my battery of my Polar FT80, and to find a Garmin Edge 500 bike mount, as the two I got with the box no longer suffice as I own more bicycles than what I really need. Then I remembered that fellow hubber, Airbender posted something about his Polar being sent away for a battery replacement, and I think that this, together with finding a Garmin bike mount in Cape Town is going to become one heluva mission, but was I wrong. Phoned around for the Garmin mount after visitting CRC on line (about R80 + shipping cost + taxes+ wait 4 days) and soon find one at CycleLab Northgate for R88, complete with quarter-turn mount and Forerunner mount in the same box, not that I will use the Forerunner one. Then on to my Polar, I gave Chronos Watchmakers in Cape Town CBD a call. R120 later and my Polar has a new lithium battery, new seal and is pressure tested up to 3 bar. Slipped out of the office and within an hour I am completely sorted out....just love it when things goes so smooth!
  24. Try Duracell....(being Dura Ace and all!)
